Mega star Amitabh Bachchan’s has been roped in to play the lead in Jhund and the star was to visit city for the shooting.

Barse is the founder of Slum Soccer, the organization that hosts Indian children every year for the Homeless World Cup.

It is a football tournament that brings together more than 500 players representing more than 50 countries facing social marginalization. The 2018 Homeless World Cup is taking place in Mexico City from November 13-18. Barse’s Slum Soccer is hosting a national football tournament where promising young Indian talents are selected for the Homeless World Cup each year.

For Jhund, in Bachchan plays the role of a coach who encourages street children to form a football team, a 45-day shoot was planned in Nagpur. He met the street children and rehearsed with them before the shoot. Nagraj wanted his appearance to be as authentic as possible.

“The language of the film would be better presented in Nagpur, which is why I chose the streets of this city,” he said.

The road was blocked earlier when the original producers withdrew from their commitment. It is at this moment that Bhushan Kumar and T Series intervened. But now, with #MeToo, Nagraj, the movie’s fate remains unclear. Bhushan had given the order of march to Subhash Kapoor, the director of his biopic Mogul, after his name appeared in an old case of sexual harassment. Will he do the same with Nagraj?

After the order of Bombay High Court to raze these shops, NIT has finally taken the ground step on Thursday. The squad was led by Manohar Patil under full police protection to avoid any untoward move by these shopkeepers.

It may be mentioned that these shopkeepers had moved to the High Court after NIT served demolition notices to these establishments. However the shop owners could not get any relief from the court which deemed the demolition valid and legal. However the shop owner voluntarily vacated the shops before the date.

Hiren Patel, who has been running an eatery at Futala Lake told Nagpur Today, “We are however saddened with the demolition drive but there might be a big reason if the government has taken back the land from us.”

He however said that it would be great if they would get new place once the development of this place is done.
It may be mentioned that city MP and union minister Nitin Gadkari has planned a tunnel in place of the existing road. A viewers gallery with seating capacity of 4,000 will come up over the tunnel with space for restaurants and parking. Gadkari sanctioned Rs 112 crore for the project.

Nagpur Today : Nagpur News

Nagpur : The Orange City, which has very few landmarks to be identified with, will soon have a grand artwork atop Sitabuldi Metro station that can be later termed as the identity of Nagpur. Giving this information, MahaMetro managing director Brijesh Dixit said the artwork will be known as what Qutub Minar is to Delhi and Charminar is to Hyderabad. “We want to give a modern identity to the city.

Nagpur should be identified with the artwork,” he said. The MD said the artwork will be a collective work of MahaMetro officials and the architect, who designed the new Airport Metro station. The architect is from Nagpur, Dixit said, adding MahaMetro is confident of completing it within months and tenders will be floated once the estimate is finalized.

Dixit further said the height of Sitabuldi station is 40 metre, which means it is about 10-storey high. “The height of the artwork known as, ‘Crown of Nagpur’, will be 14m. It will thus be visible from a very long distance. The best view will be available from the Sitabuldi flyover, terraces of buildings in Sitabuldi and those travelling by Metro. Commuters at Sitabuldi station would get an interior view,” he said.

“The artwork will be 35-metre-long and 25-metre-wide. The base will be in the shape of an inverted flower with a crown over it and a transparent dome below the crown. A 2-metre-high 360 degree LED display will also be a part of the artwork which will be used for advertisements and generate revenue for MahaMetro,” the MD said and added that the crown would be made of steel. The inverted flower, Dixit said, will be made of steel and polycarbonate. “The polycarbonate sheets will be lit with blue lights to give it an aqua theme and the dome will be a polycarbonate one.

“We want to give a modern identity to the city. Nagpur should be identified with the artwork. It would like what Qutub Minar is to Delhi and Charminar is to Hyderabad,” said Dixit. Even though the cost of the artwork is being worked out, MahaMetro is confident of completing it within months. Tenders will be floated once the estimate is finalized.

Dixit described the artwork as a collective work of MahaMetro officials and the architect. “This architect had designed our New Airport Metro station, which also have a polycarbonate dome. He is from Nagpur,” he said. MahaMetro also plans an open air restaurant on the terrace of the Sitabuldi station which is not occupied by the artwork. “It will be run by a private contractor. People changing trains can have a cup of tea and snacks there. They can also marvel at the artwork from the restaurant,” Dixit said.

Nagpur Today : Nagpur News

Nagpur/Patan: The State Energy Minister Chandrashekhar Bawankule on Friday said that the State Government has started a new High Voltage Distribution System (HVDS) to provide power connections to 2.28 lakh agriculture pumps. “The power connections had been pending despite farmers having paid for them. Now with the high voltage distribution system for the agricultural pumps, farmers will have uninterrupted electricity supply. There will be less loss of power, and technical problems will be reduced to the minimal,” Bawankule said.

The Minister was speaking at a function organised to provide the first power connection to agriculture pump of farmer Krushnaji Patil in Marali village of Patan Tehsil in Sangli district. Bawankule on the occasion announced approval of Rs 11.83 crore fund for electrification and enhancement of power distribution machinery in the remote area of the village. He also inaugurated developments works of Rs 7.50 crore in Patan Tehsil.

Bawankule further said, “Power connections to total 5.18 agriculture pumps were pending to during the period from 2005 to 2015. The State Government took immediate decision and all the agriculture pumps were provided power connections. Now, from 2015 to 2018, power connections to 2.28 lakh agriculture pumps were pending. The government has taken a decision to give power connections to these pumps through a High Voltage Distribution System. Two farmers will share a transformer through HVDS lines. Even though the system costs around Rs 2.50 lakh for each connection, there is no risk of the transformer burning for the next 20 years without maintenance or repairs. The system is costly but still 7.50 lakh farmers are being provided new power connections” he said.

He said that under the Chief Minister Solar Agriculture Feeder Scheme, the farmers will get assured power supply at affordable rates during daytime on demand. Till now 7500 farmers have been provided power supply through solar energy. In the coming year, 3535 megawatt electricity will be generated through solar power projects and 7.50 lakh farmers will be supplied electricity. At present, power supply costs Rs 6 per unit. But the solar power will cost Rs 3 less. Similarly, around 1500 drinking water supply schemes in State were brought under solar energy. 2000 more drinking water supply schemes will be shifted to the solar power. The move is aimed at curtailing the load on State’s grid which runs on conventional energy. Despite providing electricity at the rate of Rs 1.80 per unit instead of Rs 6 per unit the electricity bill arrears have reached over Rs 32,000 crore, Bawankule stated.
