flyover-1Nagpur.

In an outrageous act, some road rowdies not only risked the lives of vehicle-owners passing through the flyover but also threw a challenge to police in “Catch us if you can” manner. The appalling incident occurred right under the nose of Sitabuldi Police Station but the rowdies or stuntmen or criminals were left scot free without any punitive action, shockingly. The pictures tell the terrible tale and also throw a challenge to police to bring the unruly elements to book.

Flyover-2According to eyewitnesses, a function was in progress near the Cinemax and a group of disruptive youths stopped at the nearby flyover to watch it. The riotous group, first of all, put hurdle in smooth flow of traffic by gathering at the flyover. Later, they mischievously started harassing the two-wheeler owners, including girls, by stopping their vehicles and then resorting to vulgar actions. These lawless actions not only led to traffic chaos but put the lives of passersby in danger. Any misjudgment out of panic could have resulted in major tragedy as the spot is well above the overflowing road. And all this rowdiness was going on right under the nose of cops as Sitabuldi Police Station is situated at a stone’s throw distance. But not a soul arrived at the spot and the road rage went on uncontrollably for quite a time.

_MG_3756 (1)But the police still have a golden chance to nab the elements as the pictures clearly show the tell tale signs of the drama. The traffic cops who were supposedly on duty at nearby the spot must also face the music for their criminal negligence.

Nagpur News : It appears CBI is on the wrong side on its course of investigation in the multi-crore Coal Block Allocation Scam as it is being pulled up the special court for its some or the other act. This time CBI faced the music for filing a report which the court dubs as vague and improper. The report was filed on a plea for return of passport by a Nagpur based accused Manoj Jayaswal in a coal blocks scam case with the judge warning the investigating officer (IO) that cost would be imposed on him in future.

The court had earlier issued a notice to the concerned passport officer at Nagpur on a plea filed by accused Manoj Jayaswal, Director of co-accused firm Nagpur-based AMR Iron and Steel Pvt Ltd, seeking return of his passport seized by the CBI during the investigation.
The special court was hearing the case in which CBI had named in its charge sheet Vijay Darda, his son Devendra Darda, Manoj Jayaswal, director of Nagpur-based AMR Iron and Steel Pvt Ltd, and the firm as accused for offences under sections 120-B (criminal conspiracy) read with 420 (cheating) of the IPC and under the Prevention of Corruption Act.

The Supreme Court had on September 19 asked the CBI not to take any final decision on any case arising out of multi-crore coal scam after serious allegations were levelled against its Director Ranjit Sinha for protecting some accused.

Vijay Darda, Devendra, Jayaswal and the firm were named as accused in the charge sheet filed on March 27 in which it was alleged that they had fraudulently acquired coal blocks. They have denied the allegations levelled against them by CBI.

Special CBI Judge Bharat Parashar was unhappy with the CBI’s compliance report on service of notice to the passport officer, Nagpur, and observed that the document placed in the court was “not proper” and “vague”.

“A bare perusal of the entire report and other documents shows that the report is per say vague. It does not say as to whom summons were served and except the word served, there is no other word written on it.

“IO has been warned that in future the report should be in pursuance to rules and procedures of CrPC,” the court said.

Five candidates file nominations in Nagpur district

Nagpur Today : Nagpur News

Nagpur.

Five candidates filed their nomination papers on September 22, 2014 for four seats in Nagpur district for the ensuing Assembly elections slated to be held on October 15, 2014.

Three Independents nominees filed their papers, while one is from CPI and the other is from Democratic Secular Party (DSP).

There are 12 Assembly constituencies in Nagpur district including six in the city. However, one interesting thing to note is the fact that candidates from other main stake-holders like BJP, Congress, Shiv Sena, MNS and NCP have refrained from filing papers since an uneasy uncertainty prevails over the possibility of either continuation of alliances or divorce from the very long alliance on account of seat-sharing tangle.

The filing of nominations is likely to gather momentum somewhere after September 24, 2014 after the end of “Pitru Paksha”. However, September 27, 2014 is the last date for filing of nomination papers.

The candidates who filed their papers on September 22, 2014 are: Chandrshekhar Kahrpuria (Katol), Rajesh Thakur (Hingana), and Vinod Nitnavre (Umred)– all Independents, Shyam Kale (Hingana) of CPI and Jamil Khan Pathan of Democratic Secular Party (Kamptee).

Nagpur-BJPNagpur.

With election round the corner, the prospective poll candidates are making all out efforts to get to the nerve of their voters, in whichever way possible. A current trend of raising self-appraisals in the printed form has hit Nagpur circuit, in which an array of achievements in the shape of development works is being put up in booklets. However, how far this attempt will go to affect the voters will be an interesting watch.

A similar such attempt was seen when State Chief of Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and local MLA Devendra Fadnavis and MLA Sudhakar Deshmukh jointly released a book titled “Karyavruttant Prakashan” which includes all the plans that were successfully executed in the past five years.

Both the leaders were in the self-lauding mode at the do, and were seen patting each other’s back by showering praises on each other. MLA Sudhakar Deshmukh lauded MLA Devendra Fadnavis for the various development works undertaken by him in the past five years. He added that Union Road Transport, Highways and Shipping Minister Nitin Gadkari have already sanctioned Rs 850 Crores for various development works in West Nagpur.

While addressing the audience Fadnavis credited his becoming the State Chief of BJP to all the dedicated and loyal BJP activists who supported him and stood with him in every endeavor. He also thanked the National BJP leaders for considering him worthy of this post.

Fadnavis avoided speaking about the alliance with Shiv Sena publicly but made the statement during an interaction with reporters after the programme. He expressed, “I personally met Shiv sena president Uddhav Thackeray and put forth the proposal of seat-sharing. ”According to our proposal, Shiv Sena can contest 140 seats, BJP 130 and other allies 18. We have also requested that Shiv Sena let BJP contest from the 59 seats that it has never won. However, Sena hasn’t conveyed any official communication on the proposal and we are hoping it responds soon. We are open to direct conversation and do not wish to speak through the media any more. Shiv Sena is an old friend and friends do not speak through channels. We hope to have positive discussions and retain the alliance”.

The office-bearers and activists of the Bharatiya Janata Party were present in large numbers. The entire Vasantrao Deshpande Hall burst at the seams with all the activists present there. For those who could not be accommodated inside the hall, an LCD projector displayed the entire programme in the parking lot of Vasantrao Deshpande Hall, which was covered with a Shamiyana and had seats for the BJP activists.

Those who were present on the dais included MLA Sudhakar Deshmukh, MLA Krishna Khopde, Dutta Meghe, Devendra Fadnavis, Nitin Gadkari, Banwarilal Purohit, Rajya Sabha Member Ajay Sancheti, Mayor Pravin Datke, Deputy Mayor Munna Pokulwar and others.

Nagpur.

The party meter has been set to scorching high among the city’s chic and happening circuit, with the club parties being made out of every occasion, personal or public. And there blown in the rhythm and grooves along with sassy mix of cocktails. Nagpur Today found out that most of party goers belong to the age of 18-22, without the permit to consume liquor. Leave aside the permit; the parties which claim to be serving alcohol across the table do not care enough to get the required permission in place. This is where the officials jump in to play spoilsport to such parties. Recent case came to the fore at Girnar Lawn on Wardha road, located on city skirts in serene atmosphere.

The lawn was pre booked, entire arrangement was done from dance to drinks and fine dining, but both the organizers and lawn owners failed to get the desired permission from Excise department to serve liquor. Though eleventh hour attempts were made to get one but it failed. Eventually, the party had to be continues with or without permission since entire arrangements were done. This invited the wrath of Excise officials who launched a midnight crackdown on the party den. However informers were alert enough to shoo away party people from the venue and what officials got were hordes of empty liquor bottles, and the bartender ofcourse!

The youngsters got information about the party from Facebook. The tickets were booked on the website called Adwings India.com and was titled as ‘incarnation’. The entry fee for the party varied from Rs 1,000 to Rs 5,000. However, on facebook, the rates per table were quoted at Rs 30,000, it was learnt.

However, the rural police granted permission but no permission was taken from the excise department.

The participants, mostly college students, started assembling at Girnar Lawns right from Sunday afternoon. Initially, the organisers told the participants that no liquor or other kind of drugs will be provided at the party. They should arrange it from outside. Later, the organisers realised that there cannot be a party without liquor and hence they started serving it from the evening.

As soon as the squad reached Khapri, the informers tipped the organisers about the impending raid. The excise team took about 15 minutes to reach the spot from Khapri. But till then, the organisers had already alerted the participants who ran helter skelter and made good their escape. However, the main organiser Zibran Khan and the owner of Girnar are absconding. The raid was conducted at about 9.30 pm, but most of the party was done till then.

The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) on September 21, 2014 had written and directed all the CBSE schools  to make  arrangements for the live telecast of the Mars Orbit Insertion of the Indian Mars Orbiter Mission (MOM) scheduled for September 24, 2014.

Though the live coverage of the event will be showcased on Doordarshan, but looking at its exclusivity and significance, A.R.T.I Director Dr. Sadhana Parashar wanted that the students should not miss such a spectacular event.

According to ISRO, Doordarshan and Webcast will telecast the live event on September 24, 2014, from 06:45 hrs IST onwards.

The Board has advised the schools to make the necessary arrangements for the students to witness the event in the best learning atmosphere, i.e. in their classrooms.

The Mars Orbiter Mission (MOM), also called Mangalyaan, is India’s first interplanetary mission to the planet Mars.

However, due to such a short notice and the technical support involved in it most of the CBSE Schools in Nagpur are not going to conduct the live web telecast of Mangalyaan.

Principal of Modern School Neeru  Kapai  told Nagpur Today  that we will try to do it. Since September 23, 2014 was a holiday, the arrangements for the event would take a long time. However, we will surely arrange to record the entire telecast, so that it can viewed later by the students and can become a study material for future reference too.

Principal of BVM Trimurti Nagar informed that as the evaluation process is going on in their school so it won’t possible for them to participate in the event.

Many political parties and the candidates have deferred to buy and file nomination because of ‘pitru paksh’

superstitious traditionsNagpur: Maharashtra had promulgated the Maharashtra Prevention and Eradication of Human Sacrifice and other Inhuman, Evil and Aghori Practices and Black Magic Act, 2013 is a criminal law act for the state of Maharashtra, India.

But the irony is such which is not palatable to the modern youth. Two major alliances which include the Congress-NCP and the BJP-Shiv-Sena-RPI had postponed the decision on the alliance, filing the nominations etc till after ‘pitru paksh’.

The Congress and the Nationalist Congress Party, who  call themselves ‘secular’ has postponed the decision to file the nomination for September 24, 2014. The Maharashtra Navnirman Sena (MNS) is not lacking behind and the party too has postponed publishing its blue print, the “Vision statement for Maharashtra”.

The Shiv Sena party leaders are also believed to have deferred the decisions on candidates till after the ‘pitru paksh’.

So much so that they did not even purchase the forms of Nominations till now. What should this be construed as?

Many learned citizens and the youth of the city are criticising these parties for going by a “superstitious traditions”. It could be mentioned here that according to age-old Hindu tradition, ‘pitru paksh’ is considered to be an inauspicious period to take any important decision. Many feel that these political parties are trying to avoid any ill omen. Adhering to such superstitious is actually proving the Indian Constitution and the Act wrong.
