Nagpur Today : Nagpur News

Technological advancement and leap towards modernity have enabled women entrepreneurs from across the globe to step into a new world of increased awareness and ability. As women in India and globally continue to surpass milestones of success, platforms like WhatsApp support them in their journey of becoming financially independent.

Turning her passion for cooking into a business, Latika Devkar started tiffin service 14 years ago, and that was a stepping stone towards her success. She started by making sweets and snacks for her neighbours and other acquaintances. With growing popularity and introduction of new products, Latika now sells 25 types of products and earns around INR 30,000 in a month. Her husband works for a security agency. She shares that his salary used to be insufficient to run the house and now she is glad that she is able to contribute to her home.

Some time back, she attended a digital marketing and financial literacy course run by the Mann Deshi Foundation, which encouraged her to create a Facebook page and a WhatsApp business account. “I have always worked from home and relied only on walk-in customers. These mediums have opened a whole new world for me. Now, almost 70-80 per cent of my customers contact me through WhatsApp or Facebook,” says Latika, “I also have three hotels in Satara who buy my products in bulk every day.”

When her business was shut during the lockdown, she started supplying tiffins and earned INR 24,000 a month – receiving orders from her customers through WhatsApp. Latika intends to invest in setting up her own store next year. “The demand for my products is growing and I think it’s the right time to scale up,” she says confidently.

Another example of the success of Indian female micropreneurs is Ashwini Sangrekar who now, earns a respectable income and has created a good life for herself and her husband. Eight years ago, she started tailoring work from home and later started a ladies shop. Holding patience for at least six months before profit started pouring in was tough, but Ashwini didn’t give up.

When she got introduced to Mann Deshi Foundation, she discovered a whole new world of microentrepreneurs like herself. She got a chance to participate in a digital marketing training programme where she learnt to design and launch her own business page on Facebook and create a WhatsApp Business account and since then, almost 30% of her customers have been contacting her through WhatsApp or Facebook

“I never realized how powerful these tools are. I would attribute the fast increase in my customer base and subsequently the income to my decision of adopting digital tools,” she says excitedly. Ashwini is the proud owner of a two-wheeler that she has bought with her hard-earned money. For the future, Ashwini is looking at setting up her own store alongside selling products online.

WhatsApp continues to salute and support strong women like Manisha and Manjushri, not only in India, but across the world – by opening up various avenues for them and their businesses.

Bajaj Auto introduces the Platina 110-ABS : The ‘safest’ bike in its segment

Nagpur Today : Nagpur News

09th March, 2021: Bajaj Auto, The World’s Favorite Indian, has launched the all-new Platina 110 with a segment first ABS (Anti-lock Braking System). Priced at INR 65,920, the ABS braking technology provides for best-in-class braking that prevents skidding or loss of control in sudden-braking scenarios. The ABS that is coupled to a 240 mm front disc brake, makes the new Platina, its segment’s safest bike.

Anti-lock braking or ABS, involves an electronic controller that monitors the wheel speed under sudden or extreme braking, and through a feedback loop, releases and reapplies the brakes, faster than any human intervention can manage. In doing so, the system works to prevent ‘locking’ of the wheel, that otherwise may cause loss of control or skidding.

Along with ABS, the Platina comes equipped with a ComforTec package that includes quilted seats, a Nitrox spring-on-spring suspension as well as tubeless tyres to offer unparalleled comfort on the road.

Powering the Platina is a 115 cc, four stoke, single cylinder, air cooled engine with Electronic Injection, that makes 6.33 KW power (8.6 PS) @ 7000 rpm & 9.81 Nm torque @5000 rpm. The refreshed look sees new mirrors for improved visibility as well as hand-guards to offer extra protection while riding on varied surfaces. The bike will be available in exciting colours – charcoal black, volcanic red & beach blue and is available across all Bajaj Auto dealerships in India.

The new Platina 110 ABS continues to offer segment leading features such as:

  • ABS (Anti lock Braking System) – for the first time in its segment
  • 20% longer front & rear (with Nitrox) suspension that offers less jerks in potholes
  • Long quilted seats that provide comfort for rider and pillion
  • Headlamp with integrated LED DRL that provides clear visibility and adds style
  • ABS-indicating analog speedometer

Commenting on the launch Mr Sarang Kanade, President – Domestic Motorcycles Business Unit, Bajaj Auto Ltd said, “The new Platina 110 ABS offers unmatched safety by offering riders complete control over unforeseen braking scenarios. We hope that millions of Indians who ride across varying terrains & roads of the country would take cognizance of the need to keep themselves & their loved ones safe and upgrade to the best-in-segment braking technology. The brand Platina has an unmatched proposition of Comfort with over 7 million satisfied customers as a testament to its segment-leading attributes and now with the addition of ABS, it remains a generation ahead of its competitors.”

Irregularities @ Meditrina Hospital: High Court grants interim protection to Dr Paltewar

Nagpur Today : Nagpur News

Nagpur: The Nagpur Bench of Bombay High Court has granted interim protection of 72 hours to Director of Meditrina Institute of Medical Sciences Dr Sameer Paltewar, in case his pending anticipatory bail is rejected by Sessions Court. At the same time, the High Court has indicated that it would decide the seminal issue of power of Court to seek personal presence of accused during final hearing of anticipatory bail application and right of accused to have access to justice.

Under Section 438 (4) of Code of Criminal Procedure, the Court may seek presence of the applicant seeking anticipatory bail at the time of final hearing of the application and passing of final order on an application made to it by the Public Prosecutor, and if the Court considers such presence necessary in the interest of justice.

In the instant case, on the basis of a complaint lodged by Ganesh Chakkarwar, Sitabuldi Police registered a case against applicant Dr Paltewar offences punishable under Sections 406, 409,420,465,467,268,471 of IPC and Section 66-C of the Information Technology Act, 2000.

The Sessions Court granted ad-interim protection to the applicant on February 22 and asked him to co-operate with the investigating authority. According to applicant, he fully co-operated with the Investigating Officer (IO) and when the matter was slated for hearing, time was sought by the complainant on the plea that his lawyer was out of station and simultaneously, he moved an application seeking presence of Dr Paltewar during final hearing.

The Investigating Officer also moved an application seeking his presence at the time of final hearing. Applicant’s counsel opposed this request and on March 5, the Court allowed the application. Senior Counsel Avinash Gupta, appearing for the applicant, contended that IO had no authority to move such an application and the Sessions Court also did not record any reasons for allowing the application seeking personal presence of Dr Paltewar. Issuance of such presence at the mere askance defeats the very object of section 438, he claimed.

If the pre-arrest protection application is rejected and the accused is arrested while in Court or soon thereafter, the right of the accused to approach the High Court shall stand defeated, he claimed, while urging the HC to interpret the provision as would sub-serve and advance the legislative intent. Only in rare cases of hardened criminals such a direction can be issued but certainly not where the applicant is a renowned neurosurgeon, he argued. Power to issue such direction must be understood and interpreted on the anvil and touchstone of the cherished principle that the accused must have access to justice and his right to invoke the concurrent jurisdiction under Section 438 of the Code must not be rendered in effective, the High Court noted while posting the hearing on March 18.
