Those losing polls carry uncivilised conduct forward: Bhagwat’s jibe at Mamta Banerjee

Nagpur Today : Nagpur News

Nagpur: RSS Sarsanghchalak Mohan Bhagwat, on Sunday, virtually called for use of “dandashakti” (state power) in West Bengal government for “post-election violence”.

“Contest is inevitable in elections. It’s like Holi when you throw colour on each other. But if those who won, in their pride (guman) and those who lose, in their sense of revenge, carry the uncivilised conduct forward after election, then it affects the nation as a whole.

What’s happening in Bengal today? It shouldn’t have happened. Is it happening in any other state after elections? But if some goonda elements are doing it, the government must stop it. It is the duty of the government to establish rule of law using its power (dandashakti),” he said addressing participants of all-India third-year annual training camp of swayamsevaks here.

Bhagwat, however, didn’t make it clear if he meant the Centre should use its power or the West Bengal government should.

This was Bhagwat’s first speech after the 2019 general elections.

Last year’s valediction was marked by the attendance of former President Pranab Mukherji. This year, however, the proposed chief guest industrialist Ratan Tata couldn’t make it.

Bhagwat said, “after the electoral contest, all should work together to take the nation on the path to glory. Some people talk of unity but actually try to achieve their selfish goals by pitting different sections of society against each other. But the people of India have shown them their place in these elections. Those being killed (in Bengal) belongs to a specific party and who knows (pata nahi) if the killers belong to any particular party. Can the shock of loss (in elections) drive anyone to this extent?”

He also sought to redefine the “Unity in diversity” phrase, saying “diversity must be contained in unity”.

Observing that the nation has finally found a “direction to march towards glory after 70 years of Independence, Bhagwat called for “a united effort by all, including those who have lost the recent elections, to achieve it”.

Bhagwat also hinted at the international effort by powers using their “economic and military might” to prevent the country from achieving glory. To elucidate this point he, narrated the Greek story of the defeat of Troy by deceitful use of Trojan horse.

Nagpur: Fans in Nagpur started celebration as soon as India Crush Pakistan To Make It 7 In A Row.

Pakistan’s pursuit of what would be a World Cup record-breaking chase against bitter rivals India got off to a sluggish start on Sunday.

After 10 overs, Pakistan were 38 for one in reply to India’s 336 for five — a total that featured Rohit Sharma’s 140 and captain Virat Kohli’s 77. The most any side have made batting second to win a World Cup match is Ireland’s 329 for seven against England at Bangalore in 2011.

Pakistan lost their first wicket in bizarre fashion. India paceman Bhuvneshwar Kumar limped off four balls into the fifth over with a hamstring injury that a team spokesman said had ruled him out of the rest of the match. But World Cup debutant Vijay Shankar, brought on to complete the over, struck first ball when he had Imam-ul-Haq lbw for seven to leave Pakistan 13 for one.

Earlier, Kohli became the quickest player to 11,000 one-day international runs, getting there in 222nd innings as compared to compatriot Sachin Tendulkar’s previous record of 276 innings. Pakistan left-arm quick Mohammad Amir was his side’s only threat with three for 47 despite two early warnings for running on the pitch.

Summer proves deadly for ‘aquatic ecosystem’ in Nagpur

Nagpur Today : Nagpur News

Nagpur: With mercury breaking all the past records, we are staring at one of the severe water-starved summer this year. Though administration have issued several guidelines to keep humans safe from the wrath of sun but failed drastically when it comes to protect aqua ecosystem in the Orange city.

In summer, the change in temperature not only adversely affects the environment but also reduce oxygen level in the water owing to fast evaporation. As a result some specific kind of fish dies abundantly during summer. This year, we have seen distressing scenario Ambazari Lake where thousands of ‘Tilapia’ fishes succumbed to blazing heat this summer. Due to shrinkage in water levels fishes which thrives for oxygen left with no option but to swim up to the water surface where temperature remains high which ultimately lead to their death.

Forecasting such severe effects this summer, city environmentalists across the city had already proposed several ways to improve oxygen levels from installing artificial fountains to avert the opening of sewage and drain lines inside the city lakes to the Nagpur Municipal Corporation but, in vain.

Precautions:

Need to avert urban sewage dumped into water bodies

When Nagpur Today took matter to city environmentalist Kaustav Chatterjee, founder, Green Vigil Foundation he said, “Water pollution in the city primarily occurs due to dumping of waste and urban sewage into water bodies. This result in the formation of ‘eichhornia’ in the water which again blocks sunlight and effects dilution process. In summer the circumstance for aqua bodies are different owing to fast evaporation. When there is aeration, say in winter or in rainy season the plant and animal life thrive as oxygen constantly flow though the water.

Need to care about aquatic ecosystem, not beatification

In summer, oxygen crises plays key role to abrupt aquatic ecosystem. Besides causing unnatural deaths of fishes it effects there pregnancy and also disrupt their multiplication. Under such extreme condition we need more plans to protect an entire ecosystem rather than beatification nearby premises leaving the aqua bodies thrive of breathing, added Chatterjee.
