Nagpur Today : Nagpur News

Gondia: Taking advantage of superstitious notions prevailing rampantly in society, a fake tantrik exploited a 17-year old girl sexually for five days on the pretext of curing her ailments. The ordeal of the girl ended as the pervert tantrik was arrested and put behind bars.

The victim of superstitions, a family from village Fulchur near Gondia was trapped by the fake tantrik named Lankesh. The family’s 17-year old daughter was suffering from a lump in her chest since years. When the tantrik came to know about the suffering of the girl, he contacted her family on March 27 and ‘assured’ to cure her without expensive surgery. Later, on a day when the girl’s father and uncle had gone out of station for some work, the fake tantrik went to their house on the pretext of treating the girl. In the night the tantrik started his scary ‘rituals. He gave a black coloured pill to other members of the family. As they consumed the pill, they went unconscious. Taking advantage of the lone girl, the fake tantrik raped her forcibly.

Thereafter, with his tantra-mantra the fake tantrik weaved such a scary web that the girl’s family members started ‘believing’ his treatment methods, of course unaware of exploitation of the girl. The family members even locked the house door from outside in the night allowing the tantrik and the girl inside With this kind of weird ‘treatment’ the tantrik victimised the girl for five days. However, the black deeds of the fake tantrik got exposed when the girl’s father and uncle returned home and found the house locked. They enquired about it with neighbours who told them that the house locked since seven days. They broke open the lock and found all the family members unconscious and the tantrik sitting at a corner of the room. Soon, the family sensed the black deeds of the fake tantrik and thrashed him black and blue. Later he was handed over to police. The victimised girl was later admitted to Gondia District Hospital for check up.

Based on the complaint of the family, cops booked the bogus tantrik Lankesh under Sections 376(2)(J)(N), 342, 506 of the IPC read with Sections 4, 6 of Protection of Children from Sexual Offences Act and arrested him. He was produced in a court which remanded him to police custody for four days. After custodial interrogation, the fake tantrik was sent to Bhandara Jail till further investigations.
