‘You gave BJP and Congress a chance to govern the Nation. However, since last 50 years the face of the Nation has not changed. In the name of development, only the position of political leaders and their parties has improved whereas we are still short in supply of clean and safe drinking water. The government is ignorant towards the Public Health Sector, number of slums has increased, supply of electricity is insufficient, younger generation still faces a major problem of unemployment. Time calls for a change to meet the ends of justice. Give BSP a chance and let Nagpur witness the term ‘Development’ in its true sense and spirit.’ said Dr. Mohan Gaikwad, a Bahujan Samaj Party candidate from Nagpur region.

Dr. Gaikwad intensified his poll campaign and addressed gatherings at Subhash Nagar, Colonel Bagh and Lakadganj. Nagpur Today : Nagpur News

The Budget was supposed to be passed on March 27 meeting itself. However, utter uproar by the same Senate members targeted at the then Vice Chancellor Dr Sapkal and disapproval of Budget, had forced adjournment of the meeting. The unruly meeting subsequently saw downfall of Dr Sapkal as he resigned from the post unceremoniously.

RTMNU newNagpur News.

With whipping boy Dr Vilas Sapkal gone, RTMNU has suddenly become “responsible” and “disciplined” institute. The unruly Senate on Tuesday (April 1) passed the Annual Buget, Annual Report of Rashtrasant Tukdoji Manaharaj Nagpur University without the chaos as was witnessed on March 27 meeting that was supposed to pass the Budget on the day itself. However, utter uproar by the same Senate members targeted at the then Vice Chancellor Dr Sapkal and disapproval of Budget, had forced adjournment of the meeting. The unruly meeting subsequently saw downfall of Dr Sapkal as he resigned from the post unceremoniously.

The adjourned Senate meeting began under the Chairmanship of Acting Vice Chancellor, RTMNU, Anoop Kumar, who is also the Divisional Commissioner of Nagpur. The clearing of the Budget was very important as all the expenditure of the RTMNU had come to grinding halt because of Senate’s disapproval of it in the last meeting. The Budget was passed so  smoothly as if nothing had happened over this issue.

Another interesting aspect of Tuesday’s Senate meeting was that although the agenda of the meeting was Budget, but the members, all of a sudden, one by one started raising issues of students’ welfare, university development and so on. This was totally contrary to the stance adopted by them in last eight months. In this long past period, the members had only one point agenda – the blacklisted 250 colleges.

Today’s proceedings clearly showed that the members were not comfortable with the former VC and hence baying for his blood. They did not let the House to function by various ways and means just to settle score with the former Vice Chancellor.

On the 2014-15 Budget aspect, the expected RTMNU revenue is  Rs 249. 47 crore and expenditure will be 274.20 crore. There will be deficit of about 24.72 crore.

Acting VC Anoop Kumar assured the  Senate that the Convocation Ceremony issue will be taken on priority and will be held soon. He said, “We should look forward. ‘Jo beet gayi, woh baat gayi’ (Past is past).

Some of the highlights of the Budget are: To encourage research work Rs 20 lakh,  for NAAC Proposal Rs 8.63 crore, for new pipeline, campus compound, multi purpose hall for convocation and parking Rs 12 crore, for administration building Rs 10 crore,  for teaching rooms-seminar hall-new labs Rs 4.87 crore, student training centre Rs 90 lakh, library expansion Rs 50 lakh, students’ medical assistance Rs 20 lakh, for students’ development fund Rs 20 lakh, for students’ assistance fund Rs 20 lakh, students’ entreprenuership fund Rs 5 lakh, for earn and learn scheme Rs 5 lakh and for HRD Cell Rs 5 lakh.

Nagpur News.

Even as the summer temperatures are set in ascending order, water scarcity started looming large over some of the dry pockets in the city. And the apathy of civic officials and private water operator Orange City Waters (OCW) has only multiplied the problem. The severe water crisis has worst hit many areas of Nagpur, particularly those which rely on water tanker to fulfill their needs. A glaring example to this fact has emerged in Hansapuri where there was no water supply for over ten days, thanks to the callous attitude of both NMC Chief Shyam Wardhane and OCW, who have turned blind eye to the situation despite the woes rocketing to alarming level. Interestingly, the corporator of Hansapuri ward Iftekhar Ashroof is among the 50 families who are facing the worst at the onset of summer.

Nagpur Today repeatedly called NMC Commissioner Shyam Wardhane, however he remained ignorant towards taking any of the calls.

Meanwhile, the residents complained that they had even approached OCW but to no avail. The corporator along with her husband Ifteqar Leader reached NMC head office. The corporator’s husband lost his cool and expressed his anger against the OCW officials. After sensing trouble, municipal commissioner Shyam Wardhane took the officials to task after which the issue was resolved.

The corporator later informed that residents from Takia Divanshah and Panaipeth are also not receiving water supply from the past ten days. He further added that tankers cannot reach these areas and if this situation persists, things can worsen. Earlier water used to reach homes within a span of two days from 3 pm to 4.45 pm and then 1 am till early morning. Due to water shortage and negligence of OCW officials, the ongoing exams of youngsters are also being affected, he said.

Anjali Damania addressing the media

Nagpur News.

Blowing up the poll heat to soaring high, Aam Aadmi Party has jumped into damage control exercise amidst high drama on Wednesday, reverting to a salvo fired upon it by the man whom the party has dubbed as BJP’s ‘sidekick’. AAP has termed the act as an attempt to defame its candidate from Nagpur Anjali Damania, and waging a proxy war in Nagpur battleground.  In an e-mail disseminated across the media on Wednesday, AAP has refuted the allegations of involvement of Damania into a land scam in Karjat – a town in Raigad district of Maharashtra, levelled by Kishore Tiwari of Vidarbha Jan Andolan Samiti (VJAS) here on Wednesday.

In its clarification over the charges levelled by Tiwari in a press conference held earlier in the day, AAP has also presented some pictures in order to establish Tiwari’s relation with BJP’s Nagpur contender Nitin Gadkari.

High voltage drama

Earliers, things were escalated to high drama when one of the AAP men Ajay Sanghi reportedly gate-crashed Tiwari’s press conference and took to the dais to flaunt those photographs. Tiwari had called the press conference to make the allegations against Damania go wide across the media. However, the attempt was ridiculously thwarted when Sanghi emerged in the midst of the conference and exposed the entire connect.

Clarifications went flooding

Later in the day, the flurry of clarifications blew fast with AAP generating an e-mail while Tiwari tried hard to make his point through issuing official press release. However Tiwari could not justify his photograph attached by AAP as the document of evidence of his relation with Gadkari. AAP in its mail has also termed this act of playing foul through proxy means as a violation of poll code of conduct. The party has demanded disqualification of BJP candidate Nitin Gadkari for stage managing the proxy battle through his nondescript aide Kishore Tiwari.

“Kishor Tiwari, head of VJAS and Sunil Gogate conducted this press conference. On further investigation, we have found that these men are closely associated with BJP and their Nagpur Lok Sabha candidate Nitin Gadkari.  Tiwari is the brother of Vinod Tiwari, who is the National Co-convenor and vice president of All India BJP legal cell. Similarly Sunil Gogate is a BJP worker from Karjat.” said the release mailed by AAP. Both Tiwari and Gogate are shown sharing frame with Gadkari in different photographs produced by AAP.

EC should disqualify Gadkari, demands AAP

“It is amusing to see that BJP had to go all the way to Karjat to bring in their local workers and disguise them as local farmers and engineers. It is shocking that Gadkari, in his desperation to prevent his electoral debacle would resort to such shameful act, presenting his cronies and sidekicks as champions of farmers in Raigad. We hope that the EC will take a strong cognisance of this and disqualify Gadkari,” the release added.

Meanwhile, after being exposed Tiwari tried to clarify his stand by commenting that Sanghi’s forced entry into his conference shows growing frustration in AAP. He said that AAP men were trying disturb harmony of Nagpur. “May god blesses them with wisdom,” Tiwari quipped.

Say_No_to_Suicide_by_mxmxNagpur News : Unable to suffer the cruelty of a heartless husband, a 33-year-old woman had no option left other than attempting to end her life. Nazai Wahab, mother of a 5-year-old son, consumed poison at their Zafar Nagar residence in Gittikhadan on Tuesday evening.

She is under critical condition at Kunal Hospital on Koradi Road, Mankapur.

Despite of forcing wife to commit suicide, accused Samad Abdul Wahab Potiyawala didn’t stop there. While she was battling for life, Wahab created ruckus at the hospital. Tension spread at the hospital while he was abusing relatives and even slapped Nazia’s son.

The situation was brought under control after hospital authorities’ informed Gittikhadan police and Wahab was taken to police station.

Nazia’s brother Imran told Nagpur Today about how Wahab has been torturing Nazia from past two years after their marriage on May 4, 2012.

“It was second marriage of Nazia and Wahab. Nazia’s son from her first husband would stay with them while Wahab’s son would stay with his first wife. From last one-and-half year, Wahab has been torturing Nazia and his son for no reason,” told Imran.

Wahab works as franchisee at Idea Company. Imran described Wahab as not drunkard but still would regularly beat Nazia and her son. Irfan had earlier filed a harassment complaint against Wahab at Koradi police station when the couple was staying under their jurisdiction.

He claimed that Wahab is a bit psychic and would ruthlessly thrash Nazia and her son. “He never demanded dowry but would badly beat Nazia regularly. He would daily abuse the mother-son duo, bang their heads on wall and thrash them badly for no reason. On Sunday, while Wahab was troubling them, Nazia pleaded him to give divorce and he agreed to file an application on Wednesday,” told Irfan.

Nazia consumed poison on Tuesday when Wahab again continued the same behaviour against them. “Her son told that Wahab was beating badly to both. Unable to bear the torture, she consumed poison and Wahab fled away,” informed Imran. Nazai’s son immediately alerted neighbours and Irfan who then rushed her to hospital.

Irfan has filed a complaint against Wahab at Gittikhadan police station. Police told that since the victim is unfit to give the statement, they haven’t register any case.

Cops have taken statement of Nazia’s son and her parents.

However, the people are not fool and they are not going to get trapped in the BJP’s lure”, attacked Muttemwar.

Talking about Gadkari, Muttemwar said that Gadkari is involved in scams and he has many corruption charges against him. “Gadkari does not have any vision for the development of Nagpur or the country. He only has vision to make himself rich and richer,” said Muttemwar.

He exuded confidence that 16th Lok Sabha Elections are certainly going to be against casteist and communal forces. We should recognize danger of communal forces like RSS. Talking about the development work done by the Congress government, he said that Congress backed UPA government has brought Food Security Act and has given legal right to food grains to 83 crore people. Heaping the efforts made by Congress, he said his party has given right to education, schemes like Indira Gandhi Awaas Yojana and Rajeev Gandhi Awaas yojna to the underprivileged so that they can have shelter. These are the efforts of UPA Government and now the people have to decide whether these inexperienced parties like BJP and AAP will lead the country or Congress which have the 55 years of governance, he added.

Nagpur News.

Adding new twist to the election trail, an anti-BJP drive prevailed high and flying across the city when two Buddhist leaders flared up their ire upon the saffron party, appealing the voters not to cast their votes in favour of BJP because the party had supported the person who had hurt their religious sentiments by causing damage to the statue of Dr Babasaheb Ambedkar some time ago.

The Buddhist leaders tried to drive home the point that by picking Narendra Borker alias Balya for the post of NMC Standing Committee Chairman, the BJP has invited the anguish of their community voters and the consequences would be seen in the election result. Borker was apprehended for partially damaging the statue of Dr Ambedkar here.

The two Bhikshus (Monks or Buddhist Spiritual Leaders) Bhadant Sadanad of Akhil Bharatiya Bhikshu Mahasangh and Bhadant Arya Nagarjun Surei Sasai of Akhil Bharatiya Dhammasena having a large following in the city and neighbouring states have directed Dalits not to elect BJP leaders. They have supported this diktat with the fact the in-spite of the fact that the police had registered cases against Balya Borker under Atrocities Act, BJP had shielded him.

The two monks lambasted BJP terming it is a party of hypocrites and has double standards for every state. “While they promptly removed Bangaru Laxman (the only dalit who rose to become Party President) for taking bribe, they have chosen not to act against Borker for his offensive act.

The latest track in the election scene could further hamper the BJP’s attempt to draw dalit votes to its side. Source put the total dalit vote count in Nagpur to 3.5 lakh. Besides, there are 2.5 lakh Muslim and Christians voters and about 1.5 linguistic minorities. If all these vote for Congress party, then there is nothing to prevent their winning in the upcoming Lok Sabha elections.
