Nagpur Today : Nagpur News

YAWATMAL/NAGPUR: Left with no other option, Forest Department has to call back sharp shooter Nawab Shafath Ali Khan from Hyderabad to lead the ongoing operation for menacing T1 tigress in Pandharkawda Forest Division in Yavatmal district despite widespread criticism by wildlife lovers and section of media.

According to sources , Nawab joined the operation on Sunday and surveyed the field in an attempt to locate the animal. The beast killed 13 persons from Pandharkawda and Ralegaon tehsils in last two years. The department had launched the tranquilising operation after January 29, 2018 and then full-fledged search from September 12 after the verdict by the Supreme Court.

However, despite deploying around 200 persons in the operation and 5 elephants, the teams could not get even a glimpse of the problem tigress so far.

Meanwhile, the operation took a twist when ‘Gajraj’ an elephant brought from Tadoba-Andhari Tiger Reserve, broke the iron chain tied with at the base camp on Wednesday and went berserk. The jumbo killed a woman, grievously injured an elderly person, damaged huts, toilets, boards, crops and ran amok on Nagpur-Hyderabad Highway. Nawab was called previously after launching of the full-fledged operation on September 12. He headed the teams for a couple of days and then went on leave on September 20 on account of muhurram.

In view of widespread criticism by wildlife lovers and media against Nawab being a sharp-shooter, was kept out of the tranquilizing operation till now. Two veterinarians from Madhya Pradesh Dr Akhilesh Mishra and Dr Sandeep Agrawal left the operation due to reported high-handedness of Nawab during the operation. Two new doctors, also from MP, joined in but without getting any success they also left the operation.

Following incident of the elephant, the department held a meeting at Umari Rest House on October 3 at night in which it was decided to again invite Nawab for the job. Even after considering the plea of wildlifers, the department, having limitations, felt that there was no solution in sight and why not take benefits of the expertise of Nawab. Shooting the big cat is last option for the department. Therefore, the department called back Nawab to tranquilise the problem tigress.

Problem tigress kills another bait

After killing a horse kept as a bait in Aajni two days ago, the problem T1 tigress has again killed another horse in the same area on Saturday morning. The tigress appears to be cleverer than the teams because also she made her good escape yet again. The baits are kept to attract the problem animal with forestmen keeping watch on it to exploit the situation. It is surprising as to how nobody could get a hint about the beast making another kill?

Nagpur: Constant buffering, no price match, dead slow progress, and invalid code… Perhaps this is what most of you have on Sunday experienced on Zomato, the app-based food delivery company, which claimed 50% off on every order for the day along a fixed price combo meals from few of its partner restaurants.

Yes! Zomato erred it yet again.

Zomato rolled out No Cooking Sunday offer on Sunday and placed a full page advertisement to reach out to its users.
As Nagpur Today strolled through the offers claimed in the ad, and cross checked the same on its application, none came as real. Instead the concerned restaurants were showing usual prices, despite applying the code.

For instance, Zomato’s advertisement claimed that a combo of butter chicken, naan and plain rice from a restro name Mini Punjab would be offered at Rs 69, while the price of Rs 220 for the same was struck off. Similar price of Rs 69 was also claimed for combo meals of other restaurants like Jog Hospitality, Bulas Kitchen and Fuel Station Cafe & Restro. As Nagpur Today checked for these prices in Zomato’s app, there was no of trace it in any of the restros’ menus. It kept showing regular prices which stood nowhere near Rs 69, even after applying the code SUN50 in the ad.

Invalid Code

Most of the users were left distressed as the Zomato app experience on Sunday was disgusting. While the app kept buffering for the entire day and remained dysfunctional for most of the time, the users had the harrowing time as they saw the code SUN50 apparently came as invalid. This frustrated the users even more as they could not get through their orders despite waiting for too long.

A dubious track record

An aggrieved user annoyed at the price mismatch under No Cooking Sunday offers said, “Zomato has certainly become synonymous to distrust and fake, when it comes to redeeming codes or availing any offer while ordering food.

Earlier too, it came under the clouds for the glitch in its 1+1 free offer on its Gold membership as the restaurants kept tricking the customers with two menus – one with regular price while the other for Zomato’s Gold members who ended up paying double the price of their ordered food in order to avail the offer.”

Pravin Togadia hits out at Modi, Bhagwat on Ram Temple issue

Nagpur Today : Nagpur News

Nagpur: Former Vishwa Hindu Parishad leader Pravin Togadia Sunday hit out at Prime Minister Narendra Modi and RSS chief Mohan Bhagwat accusing them of not fulfilling the promise of building Ram Temple in Ayodhya.

Togadia also slammed Bhagwat for stating that “Hindu Rashtra does not mean there is no place for Muslims”.

Bhagwat had made the statement at the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh’s three-day lecture series in September this year.

“Hindu Rashtra doesn’t mean there’s no place for Muslims. The day it is said so, it won’t be Hindutva any more. Hindutva talks about Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam,” Bhagwat had said.

Addressing a press conference here Sunday, Togadia said, “I want to ask if there is no Hindutva without gau hatyaare (cow killers), love jihadis, stone pelters and Pakistani flag wavers in Kashmir.”

“We had joined the RSS 52 years ago considering it to be a Hindu organisation. But now we feel it is only concerned with the interests of Muslim community,” Togadia added.

The former VHP leader alleged that the RSS was not interested in pursuing the cause of building a Ram Temple in Ayodhya.

He said that instead of demanding a temple be constructed, the RSS chief should “order” Prime Minister Narendra Modi to get the government to enact a law in Parliament to pave the way for a Ram Temple.

He also accused PM Modi of “appeasing” Muslim community and going back on the promise to build a Ram Temple in Ayodhya.

“When it comes to the SC/ST Act, Modi says Parliament will decide on the matter and not the courts. But when it comes to building the Ram Temple, Modi backtracks and says the courts will decide on the issue and not Parliament,” Togadia said.

He charged Modi with forsaking the ideology of the BJP as well as that of Hindutva.

Speaking about the Antarrashtriya Hindu Parishad (AHP), an outfit he formed after quitting the VHP, Togadia said the organisation would pursue “Hindu politics”.

When asked whether AHP will support the Shiv Sena in the elections, Togadia said, “If (Sena chief) Uddhav Thackeray pursues the saffron flag (Hindutva politics), we will support him.”

Togadia had quit the VHP on April 14 this year after former Himachal Pradesh governor V S Kokje defeated his nominee Raghav Reddy in an election for the post of VHP International president.

5 year insurance mandatory with every new two wheeler

Nagpur Today : Nagpur News

Nagpur: With the aim of benefiting the buyer and its kin under severe circumstance of misfortune, the Insurance Regulatory and Development Authority of India (IRDA) has introduced new insurance rule with making it mandatory for dealers to provide insurance for a term of five years.

Although the new policy of IRDA seeks to protect the buyers, the additional amount of around Rs 10,000 for 5 years of insurance has all set to pinch the consumers pocket also to effect sells of dealers, this festive season.

This decision has disappointed two wheeler dealers across the city saying a rise in prices would be a heavy burden on the shoulders of customers and would impact demand during the festival season.

While speaking to Nagpur Today, Vishal Babre of A K Gandhi TVS Ghat Road said that though it a welcomed decision but in front of festive season this policy will definitely divert consumers “The new insurance rule has made it mandatory to provide one year comprehensive insurance and four years third party insurance. Although is it a welcomed decision as the family of a buyer will have financial support. The only concern I have, is with the time of implementation. As the new policy is all set to distract the growth rate, this festive season.”

“According to the new rule, the insurance cover has been hiked from Rs 1 lakh to Rs 15 lakh so that sufficient compensation could be given in case of accident or death. Also, insurance duration has been increased from one year to five years. The customer would have to pay up front at the time of buying a new two wheeler” he mentioned to Nagpur Today.

The new insurance rule has made two-wheeler prices dearer by Rs 7,000 to Rs 10,000 which comes to around 15 per cent to 20 per cent of the cost of two wheeler. However the amount could go up depending on the model of the bike.

While discussing the drawbacks in the five year insurance scheme as per buyer’s perspective, Girish Falnekar told Nagpur Today that he has been driving for over three decades without a single mishap. However all the premium he paid in the meantime has went in vain. “This has nothing to do with consumer’s protection but to benefit insurance companies. Even when we filed for claim they find several of excuses like the damage is on plastic part, as per our guidelines we can only pay when metal part has sustain any damage and so on which clearly states that they are only after consumer’s money”

“If they are implementing five year old policy now, why did they eliminate the total insurance cover policy earlier? As that policy used to provide total insurance cover for entire life of a specific two wheeler” added Falnekar.
