Nagpur Today : Nagpur News

Nagpur: The growing clamour against the top and now defunct Congress stalwarts has created quite an uproar into local party circles. Few days back, speculations were rife that Satish Chaturvedi’s years of ignorance towards strengthening party at local level has prompted Congress high command to decide on his exit. Now it seems another leader from the Congress trio Dr Nitin Raut is on the radar. This turned evident on Friday when giving a rude shock to Dr Raut, the Congress party on Friday admitted ex-IAS officer Kishore Gajbhiye into party fold in presence of Rahul Gandhi.

Insiders believe that since the decision was taken in Delhi with Rahul Gandhi personally welcoming him, it was a clear indication from the party that the Chatruvedi-Raut duo has lost the confidence among their party bosses.

It may be mentioned that Gajbhiye had contested 2014 assembly elections on BSP ticket and had secured 55,187 votes and stood second relegating Raut to third place. Similarly BJP’s Dr Milind Mane had secured 68,905 votes and had defeated Gajbhiye by a margin of over 13,700 votes. In the backdrop of open rebellion by party heavyweights like former ministers Satish Chaturvedi, Nitin Raut and Anees Ahmed, this smart move by MPCC President Ashok Chavan has rattled the trio, particularly Dr Raut.

This situation may put his betenoire and former MP Vilas Muttemwar and his protege city president Vikas Thakre on advantage. Sources said now they will try to scuttle Raut’s ticket in 2019 polls. Already, the factional feud has intensified with party issuing notice to Chaturvedi who in tum has accused Muttemwar as B team of faction.

Nagpur Today : Nagpur News

Nagpur -The medical administration has ordered to remove the prescription rights of the residential doctors. Before this order there were many complaints that despite having medicine in hospital still some senior doctors of Medical College Hospital had been asking the patients to buy medicines from outside. Resident doctors had been writing prescription to get the medicines from outside. Senior doctors would avoid giving prescription and would ask the resident doctors to prescribe medicines of a particular company. Some doctors had prepared a list of medicines. But the moment bribery case came to light it created a sensation among most doctors. Soon some doctors stopped prescribing medicines from outside.

Medical College Dean Dr Abhimanyu Nisawade in order to put an end to all this has asked the Heads of all Department Associate Professors, Assistant Professors to prescribe medicines from outside only if the medicines are not available inhospital. The Resident doctors should not be asked to prescribe medicines, such orders have been given to all heads of Department, it is reliably learnt. With these orders though the resident doctors have heaved a sigh of relief, but has increased pressure on senior doctors. The senior doctors would often as their Juniors to prescribe the medicines.

It may be mentioned that the two doctors one resident doctor and other a Lady Assistant Professor had to face ACB’s inquiry for no fault of theirs. In Medical’s Opthalmology Department a patient of Retinopathy was asked to give a bribe of Rs 3000 for administering injection in the eye, this created a sensation. And taking a lesson from this the medical administration removed prescription rights of residential doctors.

Shortage of medicines puts departmental heads in problem

The Medical College has the right to buy the medicines on Rate Contract (RC) But in the month of August the RC , limit ended. After five months the government woke up and extended the limit on 17 Jan and that to upto 31 Jan. But a condition was put that if in between the Haffkine Cporporation’s medicine supply is regular the extension will be cut short. But this company till now has not provided necesary stock to Medical College. This has put senior doctors in tight spot because of the orders that prescription should be given.

Nagpur/New Delhi: Following the backlash received over Mohan Bhagwat’s alleged disrespectful statement against the Indian army, the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh on Monday said that his speech was being misrepresented.

A statement issued by Akhil Bharatiya Prachar Pramukh, Manmohan Vaidya, read, “Bhagwatji had said that if situation arises and the Constitution permits, Indian army would take six months to prepare the society whereas Sangh Swayamsevaks can be trained in three days, as Swayamsevaks practise discipline regularly.”

To this effect, Vaidya added, the statement was not a comparison between the Indian army and the Sangh Swayamsevaks, but a comparison between general society and swayamsevaks, when given the opportunity to be trained by the Indian Army.

Bhagwat’s statement sparked an outrage on social media following his speech in Bihar’s Muzaffarpur where he was reported to have said that RSS was capable of preparing military personnel in three days for which the Indian Army would take six to seven months.

Nagpur Today : Nagpur News

Nagpur/NewDelhi: Reliance Power today said state- run Coal India has been directed by the Delhi High Court to immediately commence coal supplies to the Unit-I of Butibori power project.

“The Delhi High Court in its Order dated January 31, 2018 has granted interim relief to Butibori Thermal Power Plant (TPP) and has directed Coal India Ltd (CIL) to immediately commence the supply of coal to Unit 1 of Butibori Plant, equivalent to Annual Contracted Quantity of 1.23 million tonnes per annum through its subsidiary South Eastern Coalfields Ltd,” Reliance Power said in a BSE filing.

Reliance Power has set up 2 x 300 MW Butibori Plant near Nagpur through its subsidiary Vidarbha Industries Power Ltd (VIPL), which is supplying its entire power to Reliance Infrastructure Ltd (Distribution Utility), which distributes electricity to over 28 lakh consumers in Suburban Mumbai under a long-term Power Purchase Agreement approved by Maharashtra Electricity Regulatory Commission.

While coal is being supplied to Unit 2 by Coal India through its subsidiary Western Coalfields Ltd, the supply was not commenced to Unit 1 of the Butibori Plant despite a valid Letter of Assurance (LoA) issued by the Coal India subsidiary pursuant to the recommendations of Standing Linkage Committee (Long Term) comprising of Ministry of Coal, Ministry of Power, CIL, Central Electricity Authority and Railways among others, in 2008, the company said.

The LoA had promised supply of 1.23 million tonnes per annum of coal for Unit 1, it added.

The coal supply issue was pending for nearly four years after the commissioning of the unit and commencement of power supply to Reliance Infrastructure Ltd in April 2014 under a long-term Power Purchase Agreement approved by Maharashtra Electricity Regulatory Commission.

The Delhi High Court, has noted that the Butibori Plant has fulfilled the pre-requisite of SHAKTI (Scheme for Harnessing and Allocating Koyala Transparently in India) Policy, wherein Fuel Supply Agreements are to be signed with existing LoA holders, and has a case for having an FSA executed in its favour, it said.

After the directions of Delhi High Court, both units of Butibori Plant would be getting assured coal supplies from Coal India subsidiaries under 100 per cent FSA/ MoU (fuel supply agreement) and mitigate the uncertainties in supply of 600 MW quality and reliable power to citizens of Mumbai, it added.
