With break-up in both alliances, Sena, BJP Congress, NCP to go solo in Assembly poll

Nagpur Today : Nagpur News

With Bharatiya Janata Party and Shiv Sena parting ways, the political situation in Nagpur City has turned red-hot and dicey as well with advantage Congress.

Mahayuti
Nagpur: The break-up of the two parties has been confirmed on Thursday. The 25-year-old Mahayuti alliance is over. Amit Shah has cancelled his visit to Mumbai today. A one line message to this effect was sent out by the party’s media department. This is a very clear indication that he does want to be part of any further negotiations with the Shiv Sena and the talks between the two parties, where both were playing tough are now unsalvageable. This means that at state level both the BJP and Sena, who have been ‘ideological’ allies for the last 25 years will conduct a very bitter campaign against one another in all 288 seats and enter into a fierce contest. The electoral outcome and the electioneering will both be very interesting, going by the heat and dust it could potentially generate.

On the other hand, the Nationalist Congress Party on Thursday ended its 15-year-old alliance with the Congress due to the failure of seat-sharing talks between the two parties for the 288-member Maharahstra Legislative Assembly. The NCP has decided to go solo in the Assembly poll slated for October 15. Party national leader Praful Patel said the NCP can join hands with some like-minded parties

With seat-sharing talks in Mahayuti comprsing Bharatiya Janata Party and Shiv Sena and Democratic Front of Congress-NCP combine for the October 15 Assembly Elections in Maharashtra going haywire and certainly at no point of return, both the alliances have collapsed. The high-voltage drama, being witnessed over the contentious issue of seat-sharing and no end to the deadlock, has, however, turned the political situation in Nagpur City and Vidarbha red-hot and dicey as well. The break-up of alliances and the fact that all major parties going alone have thrown some aspects wide open. First, Shiv Sena would emerge a reckoning force which eventually may spoil the BJP party. Second, it would be lose-lose situation for BJP if Shiv Sena fields its candidates for all the six seats of Nagpur in particular and Vidarbha in general. And third, Congress would be in win-win situation reaping the benefit of the vertical split in the 25-year alliance even if it has parted ways with NCP. NCP stands nowhere in Nagpur City and Vidarbha too with success here and there in patches.

The tug of war for more seats, in fact, has inflicted more damage to BJP than any other party in Nagpur scenario. Now, it will be forced to fight the Assembly elections on many fronts – from within and outside, too, and the ultimate outcome would be ominous and disastrous. The political situation for the party would not be as cozy as was in the 2009 Assembly elections. In the last poll, BJP had pocketed four out of six seats with victories in South West Nagpur, West Nagpur, Central Nagpur and East Nagpur constituencies. However, the victories were the result of combined strength of BJP itself and Shiv Sena. But this time, the strength has gone with the break-up in alliance. On the other hand, strength of Congress has got a booster dose and is likely to sweep majority of Nagpur seats. Many factors would be advantageous for the party in its juggernaut.

With no alliance, Shiv Sena would be free to field its candidates, not only in South Nagpur which was in its quota of seats, but in all the six seats. Earlier also, the party was contesting the East Nagpur seat but a defeat in every election forced it to hand over the seat to BJP in the name of ‘coalition dharma.’ Moreover, now no “Dharma” to be followed, Shiv Sena is eying the sulking second line BJP leaders, who were either denied tickets in the previous elections and were forced to toe the party line under the garb of discipline or those who would be deprived of tickets in the October 15 election. Either way, there are plenty of “disappointed” leaders in BJP who would be more than happy to contest the election on Shiv Sena ticket and Shiv Sena would be a happier party to bring such winnable candidates from BJP into its fold. In sum, BJP would face lose-lose situation and for Congress, it would be win-win proposition at the cost of both the warring parties.
If sources are to be believed, Shiv Sena had already started attempts to net the drifting BJP leaders even before the talks on seat-sharing broke down. According to reports, Shiv Sena chief Uddhav Thackeray had contacted Nagpur Unit office-bearers and directed them to send names of candidates from all constituencies including the names of those BJP leaders who are hoping tickets but are likely to be denied the same. And the list of sulking leaders is long to be fit in Shiv Sena bill. The move by Uddhav has rattled the top BJP leaders who are scurrying to know the names of leaders finding place in Shiv Sena list but were no successful.

Nagpur Unit of Shiv Sena has sent names of its candidates from all the six constituencies and also the names of “frustrated” BJP leaders. Names of two leaders for South-West Nagpur and North Nagpur seats are likely to force BJP see the red because both were closely knitted with the party in the past. If these two leaders are in the fray, it would signal a certain defeat for BJP in those segments. Other contentious seats are East Nagpur and West Nagpur. The East Nagpur seat is not new to Shiv Sena as it has fought many elections from this segment and has a stronghold over voters. It would be interesting to see which ‘rebel’ leader the State Unit President of BJP faces in his South-West Nagpur constituency. Name of a particular leader is taking round who is supposed to be capable of forcing the official candidate run for his money.
One aspect is emerging certain in this dicey political situation post snapping of ties between BJP and Shiv Sena. Congress would gain the most even after NCP walked out of the Front. NCP holds no water in Nagpur or for that matter in Vidarbha. It has been proved time and again. Congress camp is raising its hand higher and higher for cheers!!

There is another dimension to going alone aspect. In the battle field of 288 seats and the same number of candidates of every political party in the fray, it would be a challenge to win the maximum seats to be in advantageous position in ruling equation. It would also be a golden chance for many new candidates to prove their strength and mettle till now shown from out of the ring for candidate of alliance partner. Now fight would be for themselves. Fight for survival without strength of alliance. And the fittest will emerge victorious.

The bottom line is: The hardcore and loyal workers of all the four parties would be in the most advantageous position notwithstanding the results. Now, they would be in great demand of every contesting candidate of every respective party to work for his or her victory. With every party going solo and with choice wide open, the workers would be in a great position to dictate their terms and force their candidates to look after them well. This is politics and the politics is different ball game.

Nagpur Today : Nagpur News

kiranpandavNagpur: Shiv Sena announced its first list of candidates from Nagpur city and district after break-up an alliance with Bharatiya Janata Party (RIP). District Chief Shekha Sawarbandhe informed media persons form Mumbai that party has announced candidature of Prakash jadhav from Hingana, sitting MLA Adv. Ashish Jaiswal from Ramtek, Kiran Pandav from South Nagpur,Satish Harde from Central Nagpur, Ajay Dalal from East Nagpur, Digambar Thakre from West Nagpur, Bandu Parve from North Nagpur, J M Abhaynakr from on Umrerd, Raju Harne from Katol.

It may be noted that the 25-year-old Shiv Sena-BJP alliance breathed its last on Thursday, bringing to an end a robust and stormy era in coalition politics in Maharashtra and India.

After more than a fortnight of often-bitter negotiations over seat-sharing for the October 15 assembly polls, BJP announced the decision at a press conference at the party’s Backbay Reclamation state headquarters. A phone call from BJP national president Amit Shah to Maharashtra BJP chief Devendra Fadnavis sealed the saffron alliance’s fate, it is learned. Senior state BJP leader Eknath Khadse conveyed his party’s farewell to Sena president Uddhav Thackeray over the phone.

The tussle over the chief minister’s post turned out to be the biggest stumbling block during talks, with Sena repeatedly saying that Uddhav would be CM after the elections and BJP saying its ally was not willing to cut its seats from 151 because it wanted to claim the top post. BJP president Amit Shah had said during a visit to Mumbai in August that the next government in Maharashtra would be led by the BJP.

Nagpur Today : Nagpur News

devendraNagpur: After filing their nominations, State Chief of BJP Devendra Fadnavis and designated Advisor to BJP (Maharashtra Cell) Sudhakar Deshmukh addressed a press meet at the BJP office near Hotel Heritage in Sadar on September 26, 2014.

Devendra Fadnavis said that with the break-up of the 25-year-old alliance with Shiv Sena, a new situation was created. The State Unit of BJP decided to fight the elections independently along with other smaller parties (RPI, Rashtriya Samaj Party, Swabhimani Shetkari Sanghatna).

Fadnavis claimed that when he saw the political scenario in the state, he felt elated since the BJP is getting very good response because of people-centric candidates who have entered BJP and are fighting the polls this time. The people too have realized the good work of BJP and have already made-up their minds to vote for BJP. We are now confident that BJP will win with absolute majority.

This time round, people will not be giving importance to Religion, Caste, Creed, Regional affiliations etc, but will vote for the development of the region and State.

The farmers will vote for BJP to get justice and for plans of good irrigational facilities which in turn will prevent suicides. The other people especially the youth will vote for BJP since the party will make and execute good policies to remove unemployment, safety and security for women, justice for backward classes and a corruption free society.

People should put their faith in Narendra Modi and vote for us. If the Central Government and State Government work unitedly, the development and progress of the region is certain. Devendra claimed that he has worked with all sincerity and honesty for the people of his ward for the past 15 years. The people will vote for my developmental works, he claimed

While talking about the separate Vidarbha issue, Devendra Fadnavis claimed that his party has always favoured smaller independent states. However, we will not do what the Congress party did by separating Telangana from Andhra Pradesh.

Fadnavis added that the final talks are on with other parties with whom BJP is in alliance about the seat sharing ratio. The total number of seats and the candidates amounting to 200 will be finalized and will be on-line on the BJP web-site, he claimed.

While answering to a question raised by media personnel, Fadnavis vehemently said that BJP will never get into an alliance with NCP. He claimed that it was BJP that disclosed all the corruptions and scams of NCP so we will never get into an alliance with them.

Nagpur Today asked Devendra Fadnavis about the pressing issue of the traders like LBT, he answered and said that those issues are included in our manifesto and we are duty bound to fulfill them.

When asked if he will become the Chief Minister, he stated that if the Leaders of BJP at the centre so wish, he would definitely become the CM.

Nitin Gadkari, Sunil Deshmukh, Anil Bobde

Nagpur: The break-up of Sena-BJP and Congress-NCP alliances has come as blessing in disguise for those leaders who were sulking for one reason or the other and were planning to drift toward other prosperous parties for tickets in Assembly election. The leaders have started dumping their parent parties.

On Friday, a former Minister in Maharashtra cabinet and one of the popular MLAs of Vidarbha, Dr Sunil Deshmukh of Amravati, who was denied Congress ticket in the last Assembly elections to accommodate Raosaheb Shekhawat, son of the then President of India, Shalini Patil, has defected to BJP and is sure to contest the elections from Amravati as its official candidate.

Along with him, the other Congress leader who jumped the fence, was Dr. Anil Bonde of Morshi. Dr Bonde, who has also been in Congress and been active in electoral politics since the past few decades, has quite a following in Warud, Morshi and Amravati. He will most certainly be the official BJP candidate from Morshi though his entry has ruffled the feathers of some local BJP workers who have been loyal cadre of the party for a long time.

Gadkari & Mudliar
Union Transport Minister Nitin Gadkari welcomed them to the party fold and reaffirmed that the Bharatiya Janata Party will, without doubt, sweep the state elections. “The party will be in a position to form the Government without any allies, though it will contest with some smaller parties who have been with them for some time,” asserted Gadkari.

The State BJP President Devendra Fadnavi, who addressed a press conference in Nagpur earlier after filling his papers, could not be present to welcome the new entrants to the party since he had to rush to Mumbai.

“Shiv Sena never gave a suitable proposal, we could not accommodate our allies in that,” BJP leader Eknath Khadse had said on Thursday.

The party had made a formal announcement of the split after two weeks of high drama and intense parleys between the two allies.

The sticking point for the two senior allies in the Mahayuti or Grand Alliance was the concession of seats to the four junior partners, who, in an earlier arrangement, were given just seven seats between them.

Following a press conference jointly addressed by leaders from the two parties on Tuesday, it was declared by sources that the Shiv Sena will contest 151 seats while the BJP will be given 130 seats for the 288-member Maharashtra Assembly.

However, after the junior allies in the 25-year-old Mahayuti or Grand Alliance objected to being denied a fair share in the Maharashtra pie, the arrangements fell through.
A worried BJP, however, continued to try to salvage the alliance, which had hoped to topple the 10-year-old Congress-NCP government in Maharashtra.

RTMNU Convocation
Nagpur:
“You have got perfect wings. Now, say ‘I will fly’ and also be thankful to your University for the pride bestowed upon you.” With these inspirational words, the former President of India Dr APJ Abdul Kalam began his keynote address at the historical 100TH Convocation of Rashtrasant Tukdoji Maharaj Nagpur University (RTMNU) that took place at University’s Rao Bahadur D. Laxminarayan Playground, Amravati road, on Friday, September 26. The venue was jam-packed with brimming faces of hundreds of students who received their degrees in a befitting manner.

Dr APJ Abdul Kalam, in the very first moments, won the hearts of many when he began his mesmerizing speech by welcoming the gathering in Marathi. The graceful gesture on the part of the distinguished personality instantly created a rapport with the students. He told the graduates that now you have got wings to fly, be thankful to the university. Kalam, in his inimical style, asked the students, “How would you evolve yourself and shape your life in future? What would you like to be remembered for?” Kalam himself answered the questions when he mentioned India’s successful Mars Mission and termed it as a proud moment for the nation. The graduates got the significant message through his answers: Make India proud.

Alliance Divorce : Will Cong score over BJP?

Nagpur Today : Nagpur News

alliancedivorceNagpur: The break-up of the two parties has been confirmed. The 25-year-old BJP-Shiv Sena Mahayuti and the 15 year old Cong-NCP alliance is over.  BJP President Amit Shah has cancelled his visit to Mumbai on Friday, while NCP senior leader Praffula Patel declared withdrawal of support from Cong-NCP led Maharashtra Government. A one line message to this effect was sent out by the alliance parties, giving a clear cut signal to go solo.

BJP heads for loss?

With seat-sharing talks between Bharatiya Janata Party and Shiv Sena for the October 15 Assembly Elections in Maharashtra going haywire and certainly at no point of return, the Mahayuti (Grand Alliance) has collapsed. The high-voltage drama, being witnessed over the contentious issue of seat-sharing and no end to the deadlock, has, however, turned the political situation in Nagpur City red-hot and dicey as well. The break-up of Grand Alliance has thrown some aspects wide open. First, Shiv Sena would emerge a reckoning force which eventually may spoil the BJP party. Second, it would be lose-lose situation for BJP if Shiv Sena fields its candidates for all the six seats of Nagpur. And third, Congress would be in win-win situation reaping the benefit of the vertical split in the 25-year alliance.

Cong on booster dose

Shiv Sena to break barriers

With no alliance, Shiv Sena would be free to field its candidates, not only in South Nagpur which was in its quota of seats, but in all the six seats. Earlier also, the party was contesting the East Nagpur seat but a defeat in every election forced it to hand over the seat to BJP in the name of ‘coalition dharma.’ Moreover, now no “Dharma” to be followed, Shiv Sena is eying the sulking BJP leaders, who were either denied tickets in the previous elections and were forced to toe the party line under the garb of discipline or those who would be deprived of tickets in the October 15 election. Both way, there are plenty of “disappointed” leaders in BJP who would be more than happy to contest the election on Shiv Sena ticket and Shiv Sena would be a happier party to bring such winnable candidates from BJP into its fold. In sum, BJP would face lose-lose situation and for Congress, it would be win-win proposition at the cost of both the warring parties.

Sena’s dent into BJP’s fort

Name of a particular leader is taking round who is capable of forcing the official candidate run for his money.

One aspect is emerging certain in this dicey political situation post snapping of ties between BJP and Shiv Sena. Congress would gain the most even if NCP too walks out of the Front. NCP holds no water in Nagpur. It has been proved time and again. Congress camp is raising its hand higher and higher for cheers!!
