The notice was issued by the City Corporation on the request of the owners of the said prem- ises, namely, Ritesh Surendra Khanna, Unnat Surendra Khanna and Rama Arun Khanna.

The girl, who is in Rajasthan, is now married and mother of three children.

According to police, in May 2015, the girl was studying in Class 8. One day, she left her home. Her parents had lodged a missing complaint with Wadi Police. But, the police failed to trace her. The investigation was transferred to AHTU in 2021. The parents did not give up hope. They just wanted to know whether the child was safe or not. The AHTU team started the investigation. During preliminary investigation, the police focused on Jharkhand as the family’s many relatives stayed there. The police reached Katkamsandi village in Jharkhand but returned empty-handed.

Soon after, the police focused on technical investigation. Her Aadhaar card was made in the name of Punam (name changed). The police identified the Aadhaar card and obtained the phone number. Nagpur: It seems that Nagpur has become a victim of the virus again. The virus has gotten into the system of every other person in the city and a death has also been recorded.

In the last five days, Maharashtra has recorded an 82 per cent rise in the H3N2 cases. As per the data by the state health department, from January 1 to March 15, 119 H3N2 cases were recorded. The numbers then jumped to 217 by March 19.

The health officials claim that there has been a significant rise in the number of cases this week, even though it has been going on for a month. The contributing factor to the increase of the virus is fluctuating temperature.

The symptoms of the virus are more like those of common flu and it is not very necessary for one to always get the test done, as per NMC Addl Commissioner Ram Joshi. He further added that incase of breathlessness and if there is a situation of hospitalisation, one should then get the test done.

“One should make sure to wear the masks again and also wash their hands frequently to avoid transferring of the germs. People especially having problems like diabetes, heart problems, chronic kidney disease should be extra precautious in this weather,” he added.

Talking about Nagpur is ready to tackle if a rise in hospitalisations are witnessed, Joshi said the health infrastructure is fully capable to handle the problems and there will be no shortage of oxygen as we witnessed during Covid-19 waves.

Nagpur: Tension ran high in the city of Gadchiroli on Monday when a full grown tigress entered the nursery near the Government Agriculture College in the centre of the town.

The tigress was probably chasing a wild boar, and got trapped in the nursery of the agriculture department located on the main road. After hours long operation in the thickly vegetated nursery, the Rapid Response Team (RRT) of Tadoba with the help of local foresters tranquilized and rescued the feline on Monday afternoon.

The tigress was first spotted by workers at the nursery of Agriculture Science Centre. Since the nursery has a compound wall around it, the tigress could not move out. Centre in-charge Dr Karale immediately informed CCF, Gadchiroli, Kishor Mankar.

Senior officers led by DCF Milish Datta Sharma, ACF Sonal Bhadke and in-charge RFO, Gadchiroli, Dhiraj Tembre rushed to the spot with a team of foresters. Thousands of people rushed to the spot to have a glimpse of the feline.

Forest officials had to summon a posse of cops to control the mob, while foresters started a search operation. As the tigress was continuously moving inside the nursery, it was difficult to track the beast. Finally, the RRT team from Tadoba Andhari Tiger Reserve (TATR) was summoned.

RRT under the supervision of veterinarian Dr Ravikant Khobragade tracked the three-and-a-half-year-old tigress and sharp shooter Ajay Marathe darted it with tranquilizer at 4.18 pm.

After the feline was sedated, it was captured in a net and transferred to a cage. The tigress was moved to the forest nursery in Gadchiroli. It is likely that the tigress will be released back into the wild soon after permission is received from PCCF (wildlife), reports said.

Mumbai: The Shiv Sena Thackeray group MP Sanjay Raut is once again in trouble. The State Police have registered a case against Raut for allegedly revealing the identity of a minor girl who was raped earlier this month. Raut on Saturday tweeted the photograph of the injured girl, lying in a pool of blood, media reports said.

Expressing surprise that an MP and who is also editor was not aware of the court’s directive that “the identity of a victimized minor girl cannot be made public”, the State Secretary of the BJP Dharmapal Meshram said that such an irresponsible person has no right to hold the post of MP. Raut should immediately apologize to the victim girl and face action, the BJP spokesman demanded.

According to the reports, the victim, a class XII student, of Pardhi community was allegedly raped by two men on March 5. The next day, the accused attacked the girl and even tried to kill her. Both the accused, Akshay Vinayak Mane (23) and Namdev Siddheshwar Dalvi (24) of Belawadi and Barshi in Solapur district were arrested.

A case has been registered against Sanjay Raut under the POCSO Act for tweeting photos of this incident in Barshi. Information has come to light that a case has been registered against Sanjay Raut in Barshi police station late on Sunday night. After this tweet of Sanjay Raut, the political movement has gained momentum.

Sanjay Raut had tweeted two days ago about the incident that happened a few days ago in Barshi. This incident took place at Balewadi in Barshi taluka. A minor girl was raped by two youths. After the girl lodged a complaint with the police, she was attacked by some youths with a knife and a sword the same evening. The girl was seriously injured. The incident had reverberations across the state. This was also raised in the Legislative Council. But Raut alleged that the accused is still at large in this case. In this regard, he had accused the BJP leaders by tweeting a photo of the girl in a very serious, bloody condition.

Sanjay Raut had written a message addressed to Devendra Fadnavis in that tweet. He had alleged that the attackers and rapists were supported by the BJP in this incident in Barshi. Sanjay Raut tried to persuade Barshi MLA Rajendra Raut. Although Rajendra Raut is an independent, he is a BJP supporter. That is why he is said to have mentioned that he is sponsored by BJP. But now Sanjay Raut is in trouble after tweeting that photo of the Barshi incident.

Under the POCSO Act, it is considered a serious offense to act in such a way as to reveal the identity of the minor victim. But Sanjay Raut had tweeted the photo of the minor girl lying in a pool of blood. Therefore, a case has been registered against him under the POCSO Act.

Employees call off strike over OPS after talks with CM Shinde

Nagpur/Mumbai: Government and semi-government employees of Maharashtra, including teachers, agitating for restoration of the old pension scheme, on Monday called off their week-long strike after a successful meeting between their representatives and Chief Minister Eknath Shinde over key demands. The striking unions’ coordination committee’s convener Vishwas Katkar said the State Government has in principle agreed to give monetary benefits equivalent to the OPS to employees who are part of the New Pension System (NPS).

Katkar also appealed to employees that they should resume work from Tuesday. Deputy Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis welcomed the employees’ decision to call off the strike. He also expressed gratitude to CM Shinde. “We understand the issue of employees. We did not stand on prestige in this matter and listened to the employees. I also wanted to underscore that they are all our employees. We will try to give them as much as we can. It is our responsibility.”

“A committee is working on the pension issues of the government employees. It will submit its report on 3 to 4 salient points; accordingly we will take further action. I have always felt that solutions can be found only through talks,” Fadnavis added.

The Chief Minister Shinde informed the Legislative Assembly: “Today, we had a meeting with the members of employee organisations. They gave a positive response to my proposal. We will take an immediate decision after receiving the report by the committee, which has been formed in this regard.”

A total of 17 lakh Government employees were on an indefinite strike from March 14 demanding restoration of the OPS, which was discontinued in 2005. Employees from 36 districts had joined the strike.

Last Monday, the CM had announced a panel comprising senior bureaucrats to look into the demand of the government employees to revert to the old pension scheme. But Katkar had refused to play along. He had said that in 2018, a similar protest was held and the panel had submitted its report but no action was taken. In 2022 also, the employees had gone on strike but there was no progress.

OPS retirement scheme is approved by the Central Government which provides monthly pension to beneficiaries till the end of their service. Under this, the amount of pension is equal to half of the last salary drawn by an individual. It was replaced by contribution-based and market-linked NPS in 2004-2005, under which the beneficiaries will be able to withdraw 60 per cent of the amount invested after retirement.

He also talked of how Sewa was defined in major religions of the world.

Owain James talked of the inequalities prevalent in the world and specifically highlighted the uneven development in Sub-Saharan Africa. Although a spirit of service is basically present in all human beings but when personal adversity falls, the spirit of service to others is awakened. We get the joy of service when we continue the vow of service without expectations, she said. The C20 and G20 must focus on development of those who are living a difficult life, she stated.

Dr Shashi Bala said that diversity, inclusion and mutual respect were important part of G20 and C20. She said that happiness should not be confined to enhancing financial and political power but there should be a focus on all-round development giving voice to the marginalised, voiceless and marginalised. Vasudhaiva Kutumbkam entailed diversity without exclusion. The motto You are the light leads to the inclusion of knowledge.

Dr Joram Begi said that diversity is the fundamental law of nature and is unavoidable. The universe is interconnected, interrelated and interdependent and this implied inclusion for all. Taking up the principles of diversity, inclusion and mutual respect were the best mechanism for conflict resolution. He then spoke of how the ancient Indian thought says ‘One manifests in all’.

Durganand Jha said that the UNO should revisit concept of human rights. Apart from a Universal Declaration of Human Rights, there should be a regional declaration of human rights. He said that human rights should not be used as a strategic instrument against any country.

Samruddhi of accidents: The Expressway witnessed 900 mishaps, 31 deaths in 100 days!!

Nagpur: Aimed at boosting prosperity of Maharashtra in general and Vidarbha in particular, the Hindu Hrudaysamrat Balasaheb Thackeray Samruddhi Mahamarg was built. But this highway is turning out to be a highway of accidents instead of prosperity. It has been 100 days since the highway was opened, during which 900 accidents have been reported, in which 31 people have died.

Notably, Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated the Nagpur to Shirdi Samriddhi Highway on December 11, 2022, which was the first phase of Samruddhi Mahamarg. This highway has completed 100 days on March 21. Meanwhile, 900 minor and major accidents took place on the highway.

Shockingly, it has been revealed that 46 percent of accidents occurred due to technical reasons. 15 percent of accidents are due to tire puncture. 12 percent of accidents are due to burst tires. A study conducted by Regional Transport Office of Maharashtra government revealed that these accidents had claimed 31 lives till March 20, 2023.

Many wild animals also died:

Common citizens lost their lives while wild animals were also injured in these accidents. Most of the wild animals have also lost their lives due to vehicle collisions. Therefore, there is a need to take a decision regarding the movement of wild animals on this highway.

Taking note of this, the authorities have now decided to introduce mandatory counselling of drivers at all entry points of the expressway.

According to a media report, on Tuesday, State Transport Department and Maharashtra State Road Development Corporation (MSRDC) officials held a review meeting. A day before chairing the meeting, Deputy Transport Commissioner Bharat Kalaskar travelled around 500 km to inspect the expressway.

It was decided in the meeting that mandatory counselling of drivers would be organised at all eight entry points of the expressway. The focus of the counselling will be on curbing overspeeding. For this, eight counselling centres will be set up on the Nagpur-Shirdi section. The centres, one in each district, will be set up in the next seven days. There will be 30 minutes to 1 hour counselling sessions for drivers by RTO officials to curtail overspeeding, which has resulted in the highest number of accidents.

The counselling session will begin with a short film on road safety, which will be followed by a question paper solving by the driver and a pledge to not indulge in dangerous driving. The drivers will also be given information about the dangers of under/over-inflated and worn out tyres.

During the meeting, several instructions were also given to the MSRDC for installing awareness boards regarding road safety.

As per the analysis of accident data of Samruddhi Mahamarg from December 11, 2022 to March 20, 2023, mechanical breakdowns due to overspeeding of vehicles accounted for over 400 accidents.

Punctures and tyre bursts had led to over 130 and 108 accidents, respectively. Similarly, vehicles running out of fuel contributed to 14% (126) accidents on the portion of the expressway opened for traffic.

Though no separate data was shared, according to the study, tail-end accidents, drivers falling asleep, mechanically unfit vehicles and animal entry were among the major causes of accidents on the Samruddhi Mahamarg.

New Delhi: Thousands of posters targeting Prime Minister Narendra Modi, put up in various parts of Delhi, have triggered a police crackdown in which 44 cases have been filed and four people have been arrested. Two of the arrested men own a printing press.
In a massive operation on Tuesday, the police took down nearly 2,000 posters from several places in Delhi. Most of these posters had the slogan “Modi hatao, desh bachao (Remove Modi, save the country)”.

Police said that the arrests were made for defacing public property and under the law that requires posters to have the name of the printing press.

Some 2,000 posters, which were allegedly being delivered to the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP)’s office, were seized by the police. Cops found the posters when they intercepted a van in the IP Estate area in Central Delhi. The driver told police that he had been instructed to deliver the posters to the AAP headquarters.

He said that he had delivered a similar consignment on Monday too.

The Aam Aadmi Party, in a tweet, questioned the FIRs and asked what was objectionable in the posters. The party also said that this was the “peak of Modi government’s dictatorship”.

The arrested printing press owners told the Delhi Police that they had received an order to print 50,000 “Modi Hatao, Desh Bachao” posters. The owners have been arrested as the posters did not have the name of the printing press.
