Nagpur Today : Nagpur News

Sincerely thanking State Government for granting ‘Industry Status’ to Hotels in Maharashtra from 1st April 2021, the hoteliers body, Nagpur Residential Hotels Association (NRHA) reiterated relief request with memorandum dispatched to Uddhav Thackeray – Chief Minister, Aaditya Thackeray – Tourism Minister and Valsa Nair Singh – Principal Secretary, Ministry of Tourism, Mumbai.

A delegation of NRHA led by its president Tejinder Singh Renu also submitted a memorandum to Prashant Sawai – Deputy Director MTDC Nagpur and held discussion.

Tejinder Singh Renu said that although this industrial status policy is good, but it has a condition that all hotels should have been registered / classified before the Ministry of Tourism, New Delhi to gain advantages of such status. And as per present status, almost 90% of the hotels & lodges are not classified nor registered before the Ministry of Tourism, so under such circumstances they’ll be facing extreme hardship in obtaining the advantages out of Industrial Status. So as proposed in the draft policy, it should be ensured that all hotels and lodges get registered by some mechanism / through the Committee proposed to enable them to gain advantages of industrial status.

Renu also submitted that even after gradual relaxations, the hospitality sector is in extremely bad shape with room occupancy averaging just 15-20%. With such occupancy, it’s impossible to maintain breakeven due to high & fixed running costs of hotels. Furthermore, with restrictions in travel, our occupancy further gets a harsh blow down with drastic drop in customers. Restaurants are reporting massive drastic drop in revenues due to closure timings of 10 pm in Nagpur.

NRHA further requested the State Government to grant waiver of property tax for 6 months (April to September 2020) as this amount is considerable and being hotel units closed, hoteliers are burdened with other fixed expenditures. Likewise Excise License fee waiver or extension of Excise Fees paid for bars for the lockdown period. Appropriate amendment be carried in Maharashtra Municipal Corporation Act, whereby industrial tariff is introduced thereby hotels get advantage in Property Tax after industrial status is implemented from 1st April 2021. Electricity Charges during the lockdown period for Hotels and Lodges needs to be subsidized drastically as bills came in very high amounts despite the properties remaining totally closed. And importantly, whenever fresh lockdown is planned, please consider the already very bad condition of the hospitality sector and kindly keep separate mention / exclusion in fresh lockdown orders.

Also present in NRHA delegation were Prakash Trivedi – IPP, Inderjeet Singh Baweja – Vice President, Deepak Khurana – Secretary and Vinod Joshi – Treasurer.

Nagpur Today : Nagpur News

Nagpur: Senior NCP leader Praful Patel on Saturday said the Centre could have avoided protests by farmers had it consulted leaders like Sharad Pawar, Parkash Singh Badal and former prime minister H D Deve Gowda in connection with framing of new farm laws.

Farmers from Punjab and Haryana have been marching towards Delhi demanding repeal of the three farm laws, leading to showdown with the police.

“This (protests by farmers) is the failure of the Central government. The government should have initiated talks with farmers at an early stage and thought twice before bringing the new laws. I feel the government should have consulted leaders like (NCP chief) Sharad Pawar, who was a former agriculture minister, Parkash Singh Badal (former CM of Punjab), H D Deve Gowda (former prime minister) who had worked in the agriculture sector.

“After consulting these leaders, the government would have realised lacunae in the new agri bills. Had these things be done in the past, the bill(s) would not have been opposed,” the former Union minister said.

On the first anniversary of the Shiv Sena-NCP-Congress government in Maharashtra, Patel said it has been a successful year.

“Even amidst the COVID-19 pandemic, the state government took many good decisions and launched a string of developmental works,” he added.

CSSD plays key role in any hospital to ensure patient safety

ISO & NABH certified Orange City Hospital & Research Institute a unit of Ravi Nair Hospitals Private Limited has been in service to nation since 1996. A multi super speciality hospital with provision of more than 60 departments serviced by 150 doctors, it is one of its kind. It is considered as the trusted hospital of central India and recognized by more than 70 companies and organizations.

OCHRI continues to upgrade itself to maintain quality. Advancements in equipage and addition of skilled manpower is crucial to deliver intricate expertise and justify the confidence reposed by incoming central Indians seeking solace for all their health needs. Recently OCHRI commissioned and upgraded their CSSD (Central Sterile Supply Department) which is the backbone of any hospital to maintain sterility of all instruments.

Highlighting this acquisition; Dr. Usha Nair- RNHPL Director stated that there are many different varieties of sterilization used in medical industry. The most common ones are steam sterilization and ETO sterilization. The other ways are like hot air oven sterilization, low temperature steam sterilization, formaldehyde sterilization, irradiation technique and sporicidal chemicals method for sterilization. Each of the process is different in the method and materials used but purpose remains the same.

Dr. Smita Harkare- OCHRI Operation Theatre Complex Section Coordinator added that the major difference between the steam sterilizer and the ETO sterilizer is the purpose of utility. The steam sterilizers are used for those equipment’s, which can tolerate the inference of steam. The ETO sterilization is like dry sterilization used to sterilize those devices operated with electricity and equipment’s wrapped with plastic lining. This helps to maintain the quality and condition of surgical equipment’s also increases the durability.

Sr. Nisha Ashok- OCHRI OT Section Supervisor mentioned that today with advanced technology of sterilization, differences between different techniques are clearly understood, considered and implemented respectively at OCHRI CSSD Division.

Dr. Anup Marar – OCHRI Director concluded that considering patient safety, priorities, multi speciality requirements and high volume of work; OCHRI went ahead with procurement of Fully Automatic High pressure and High Speed Single Door Sterilizer that combines both Steam and ETO.

Sr Rahel Patrange- OCHRI Infection Control Nurse quoted that each day, millions of medical procedures are performed in healthcare facilities worldwide, with caregivers and patients relying on the availability and use of a wide range of supplies, instruments and equipment. These devices must be properly cleaned, disinfected and/or sterilized, inspected for quality to ensure good working condition, and available at the point of care. In the absence of proper handling, processing and storage, these devices may be contaminated and compromise quality patient care. Thus central sterile supply department (CSSD) plays a key role in providing the items required to deliver quality patient care.

This unit was ritually inducted recently. Shri.Ramesh Pande performed the Pooja rituals in presence of Shri.Sunil Sure- OCHRI Chief General Manager & Sr. Jessy Abraham- OCHRI Nursing Incharge.

Nagpur Today : Nagpur News

Nagpur: According to media reports, around 300 businessmen from the Nagpur city were left in lurch after their names were found in the contact list of the mobile phone book of alleged bookie Rinku Agarwal, who was arrested by Solapur police in mid-November. Fearing action as Solapur police were asking them to appear before them to clarify, a sizeable number preferred to leave the city overnight to avoid legal hassles.

Agrawal was taken into custody along with two others after their names surfaced following the arrests of four bookies during a raid in Solapur. They were quizzed overnight before being placed under arrest at a Umrer farmhouse and taken to Solapur after the cops procured a transit remand from the local court.

READ: Nagpur bookie Rinku alias Amit Agrawal in Solapur cops’ net

The drama kick-started after Solapur cops returned to the city with the contact list data of Agrawal’s seized mobile phone. Though Agrawal was in remand custody, he was not made to accompany the cops when they came for the second time to city. The Solapur police started making random calls to the people in the contact list of Agrawal and also a few bookies whom he had named.

An automobile dealer, having nothing to do with betting, had his name in the contact list of Agrawal. He was rounded up and detained for several hours before being allowed to go after intense grilling. Learning about his hassles, several other panicked businessmen from Gandhibagh, Wardhaman Nagar and other places decided to flee the city assuming that their turns would also come even though they had no connection to betting but knew Agrawal in relation to his other legal businesses in the city and elsewhere.

Solapur police had also rounded up one bookie, identified as Haji, who was among the lot that had wrapped up the illegal betting activities following warning from city police chief Amitesh Kumar. The CP’s strict action on bookies had ensured the top names having already shifting their base or stopping their activities. Sources said Haji had developed health complications during the grilling of Solapur police and had to be admitted to a hospital.

Solapur police CP Ankush Shinde said his action on the bookies was one of the strictest in the state. “I have so far received no complaints either in written or verbally. If I receive any complaints, there would be action,” he said.

MVA govt is ”anti-Vidarbha”: Fadnavis

Nagpur Today : Nagpur News

Nagpur: BJP leader Devendra Fadnavis on Sunday accused the MVA government in Maharashtra of being “anti-Vidarbha” and neglecting the region by not providing funds for its development.

The only development works underway in the Vidarbha region are those approved by Union minister Nitin Gadkari, Fadnavis claimed while addressing BJP workers ahead of the December 1 MLC poll for the East Vidarbha graduates” constituency where the party has fielded Sandip Joshi.

“This government is completely anti-Vidarbha and its approach is the same towards Marathwada and other backward regions,” alleged Fadnavis, who hails from Nagpur in Vidarbha.

The Maha Vikas Aghadi (MVA) has “contempt and anger” towards Vidarbha, the former chief minister said commemorating the first anniversary of the MVA dispensation.

“That is why it has discontinued the Vidarbha Statutory Development Board (the term of which expired in April this year) and other projects and did not provide any funds for Vidarbha,” he said.

The farmers of Vidarbha affected by floods and other natural disasters are also left in the lurch, he said.

The works pertaining to roads, flyovers, railway over-bridges and other projects in Vidarbha are initiated by Union minister Gadkari, he claimed.

“There is not even one work underway in Vidarbha which can be attributed to this government,” the leader of opposition in state Assembly claimed and accused the ruling dispensation of not fulfilling its promises made to people.

“Is this a government or a drama?” he asked.

Fadnavis also said the previous BJP-led government had initiated the ”MahaJyoti” scheme (a training and career guidance institute) for the Other Backward Classes (OBCs), but the MVA government has stopped all various welfare measures under it.

Similarly, the Rs 500 crore fund which had been granted to the ”OBC Mahamandal” under the BJP rule has not being spent by the MVA government for welfare of the community, he claimed.

“When we passed the law on reservation for the Maratha community, we had included a section which clearly mentioned that no one can touch the OBC community reservation,” he said.

Some people in the current government are creating confusion on the issue of OBC reservation for “political purpose”, he claimed.

Reacting to Fadnavis” criticism, NCP leader and minority affairs minister Nawab Malik told PTI that the Centre was sitting on Rs 33,000 crore dues payable to Maharashtra.

“The BJP has no right to criticise the state government. It is the BJP which is anti-Maharashtra. The COVID-19 pandemic has affected development works not just in Vidarbha but in the entire state.

“Our government is doing its best to overcome the situation, but the Centreis not cooperating and not releasing Rs 33,000 crore in dues,” he said.

State Congress president and revenue minister Balasaheb Thoratsaid the Opposition was making allegations against the MVA government out of desperation.

“Even people will not take them seriously”,he added.

Energy Minister and Congress leader Nitin Raut, who hails from the Vidarabha region, said the state government”s focus remained on saving lives during the unprecedented COVID-19 pandemic and helping farmers affected by natural calamities.

“As far as Vidarbha is concerned, two ministers from the region hold important portfolios in the state government,” he said.

“We took oath on November 27, 2019 but our actually work started only in January this year. After that we had to prepare for state legislature sessions which were held in Nagpur and Mumbai, and then COVID-19 struck,” the minister said.

He said the BJP was trying to compare the work done by them in five years before 2019 to just one year of the MVA government.

“We prioritised checking the spread of coronavirus. We faced all these challenges and worked towards providing relief to the people. You will see the results soon as the state government has undertaken various development works,” Raut added.

Not in favour of having cells in party on caste basis: Gadkari

Nagpur Today : Nagpur News

NAGPUR: Union minister Nitin Gadkari on Sunday said he was not in favour of having cells in a political party on the basis of castes, religions or communities, and added that talent was more important than these factors. He was referring to the cells formed within political parties to represent different castes or communities, like the minority community and Scheduled Caste (SC).

The minister was addressing a rally for Sandip Joshi, BJP’s graduates’ constituency candidate from East Vidarbha. “I have a clear opinion that a man is not great by his caste, but by his talent. In BJP also we have different cells…When I was the party president, I had experienced this,” he said.

“I am of the opinion that no cell should be formed on the basis of caste and religion, as there is no use of such units. The representatives of such cells ask how many tickets people from their caste have got from the party,” he said. “I always say that our party, our workers are our family. We have never done politics on the basis of caste and community. We stand behind those party workers who work hard, considering them as the members of the family…This is the specialty of the BJP,” the Minister of Road Transport and Highways said.

Gadkari said that while carrying out any social work or helping the needy, he never considered someone’s caste or religion. “We have never done politics of caste and community. Our party has never done it and will never do it. Caste is only in the minds of the leaders, caste is not in the in the mind of public or party workers,” he said.

The shocking development was followed by the raging feud among members of Baba Amte’s family who had come to fore with Baba’s sons Vikas and Prakash and their wives Bharti and Mandakini, respectively, issuing a clarification on several allegations raised by Vikas’s daughter Sheetal on social media.

Last week, Sheetal who was working as Chief Executive Officer and Board Member of one of India’s leading non-profit, Maharogi Sewa Samiti (MSS), Warora, operating from one of the most backward districts of Central India had uploaded a video on Facebook, where she allegedly raised an allegation, but removed the post within two hours.
