Nagpur News: A stroke of destiny has not only shattered a budding youth’s dream to become policeman but has put his very life in serious jeopardy. Moreover, family life of the youth has also been left in tatters.

The youth, Sunil Yele (26), a native of Village Jambhulni in Sangli District, had come to Nagpur for testing his muscles in police recruitment drive and become a policeman. The drive was being held from June 6. Sunil left for Nagpur on June 5 and appeared for physical test on June 6. However, during the 5-km run test, Sunil fainted and fell on ground, unconscious. The policemen present at the spot took Sunil to Lata Mangeshkar Hospital on Hingna Road. But when his elder brother reached Nagpur the next day, Sunil was shifted to Orange City Hospital. The doctors at the hospital diagnosed Sunil and informed that he was suffering from sunstroke. Unfortunately, the sunstroke left Sunil with multiple organ failure and in critical condition. The temperature on June 6 was recorded a tormenting 46.7 degree Celsius.

Since June 6, Sunil Yele is being administered treatment in ICU of Orange City Hospital. Sunil is middle sibling among three brothers, all well-educated but unemployed. His father died 12 years ago. Sunil, who runs a tailoring shop, got married just six months ago. In the quest to become policeman, Sunil tried his luck in the past also but in vain. Now, the stroke of moment has not only shattered his dream to pieces but he himself lies in hospital battling for life with multiple organ failure. And family in distress. Sunil’s elder brother Datta has managed Rs 60,000 by mortgaging 1.5 acre ancestral land for his treatment. But the amount is proving to be nutshell in penury in the face of vast cost of medical treatment that lay ahead. The hospital has estimated the medical treatment to be around Rs 4 lakh, or even more.

Now, only one question is pricking Datta Yele: How to manage such a big amount? Sangli is top NCP leader and Home Minister R R Patil’s district. And he is emerging the only hope for Sunil’s family members. They have too demanded help from Maharashtra Government to overcome the difficult period the Nagpur summer thrust upon them.

Leakages of 4 ESR’s plugged, Seminary Hills MBR rehabilitation in full swing, Killa MBR work to start

Nagpur News

ESR
IN a bid to save potable water going waste from old and leaking ESR’s (Elevated Service Reservoirs) the Orange City Water (OCW) which has been operating and maintaining water supply system of city, took initiative and on priority basis successfully not only plugged leakages on four major ESR’s of Nandanvan, Mini Mata Nagar , Laxmi Nagar (Old) and Wanjari Nagar ESR’s (overhead tank), but also started much awaited rehabilitation process of two major Master Balancing Reservoirs (MBR) like Seminary Hills and Sitabuldi Fort (MBR).

OCW, (as on June 16, 2014) has completed leakage plugging work of ESR’s like Nandanvan and Minimata Nagar and same work on other ESR’s like Laxmi Nagar (Old), Wanjari Nagar are on final stages.

In next phase OCW will be taking up another 14 ESR’s for leakage plugging work which are Bazonbagh, Dighori, Bharatwada (Deshpande Lay Out), Kalamana, Wanjari, Nara, Boriyapura, Chinchbhuvan, Dabha, Dhantoli, Gayatri Nagar, Killa Mahal, Mhalagi Nagar and Takli Sim.

At all these ESR’s, OCW will be using latest ‘Pressure Grouting’ technique for rehabilitating old overhead water tank. It is technique where series of holes were drilled through the concrete slab and wall of ESR, and a grout tube then inserted into each hole. Then a special chemical is pumped under pressure through each hole. The grout then displaced, compacted and solidified thus forming grout columns. Pressure grouting has now stabilised the existing concrete walls, slabs etc. these ESR’s.
It must be noted that Nandanvan, Mini Mata Nagar, Laxmi Nagar (Old) and Wanjari Nagar ESR’s have been rehabilitated by OCW expert’s team without disturbing the scheduled water supply and taking any shutdowns etc.

Further it may be mentioned here that along with leakages plugging work, OCW has also completed all 38 ESR cleaning work before Summer which are not cleaned since last many years using an in-house built Automated ESR Cleaning system soon. The next phase of ESR cleaning work will start soon. OCW has decided and made it a mandatory process to clean all ESR’s once in a year. Now ESR cleaning will be a yearly practice in city

Seminary Hills, Killa MBR rehabilitation in full swing
Alongwith, ESR’s leakage plugging work , the Orange City Water (OCW) has also started complete rehabilitation of two major MBR (Master Balancing Reservoir’s) of Seminary Hills and Sitabuldi Fort (Killa) in city. The Seminary Hills MBR’s constructed almost 30-35 years back have never been touched yet. OCW has not only started its rehabilitation but till date has completed almost 65 % rehabilitation work of first part of MBR and by August 1 will start another phase of rehabilitation. While from July 1, OCW will start construction of new MBR at Sitabuldi Fort (Killa). The 50-year old MBR at Killa will be demolished and new MBR will be constructed on the same site.

Nagpur Today : Nagpur News

Nagpur News.

All roads lead to the sight of romance beside Ambazari garden lake. So whenever you are there, be ready to catch some handful of young couples getting closer than the permissible limits which is otherwise prohibited at such a place of common visit. But love has no boundaries…and romance is always found in ‘Free State’ in nature. As the heat in Nagpur has slowed down gradually, the love meter has gained momentum. The ‘love birds’ of Nagpur are once again migrating back to their usual, and perhaps the most sought after mating grounds. Welcome to the Ambazari Lake where romance runs amok and uncontrollable. Here love is not restricted to any season…it breeds in all temperatures and often shows its ‘multiple’ nature.

Says a patrolling cop to this correspondent who just happened to visit this place (all alone…before your imagination go wild) when it was dark, “Their (the couples slipping off to this place) ‘romance’ usually lasts not more than 10 minutes. Often they risk their safety and hunt for the dark in the nights to share those ‘special’ moments. I am here to stop them not because I wanted to play spoilsport but I am concerned about their safety. Just because the couples hit at this spot particularly during night hours, the incidents of loot are usual to this place. Most of such incidents are often not reported to the police to maintain their secrecy of their love.”

However, the dark hours at Ambazari may have its dark romantic stories to share, but what our lensman Amol Gajbhiye came across was the daylight romance.

Here’s for you to get a glimpse of it.

Oh I see…!

Visitors passing through the walk way beside Ambazari lake are often greeted with similar scenes.

There’s ‘something’ behind the bushes…

As our lensman noticed this sight, he could not hold back and turned on his tool to shoot at this sight.

Till cops do us apart…

Unperturbed by the what’s around, the couple appears well soaked in love beside Ambazari waters.

MSEDCL punishing Nagpur City for being good, honest & not stealing power like other cities?

Nagpur Today : Nagpur News

A report of MSEDCL itself shows Nagpur a good city. But the same MSEDCL leaves no stone unturned to hurl injustice on a law abiding city. Nagpur recorded the least number of power theft cases when the MSEDCL undertook a special drive across Maharashtra to detect pilferage of electricity. But Nagpur City is finding itself at receiving end when it comes to smooth and regular electricity supply. Apart from hours and hours of load-shedding on whimsical grounds, electricity supply gets interrupted by drop of a hat.

msebpower

Nagpur News: A simple statement has brought a simple story to light. But the story is not so simple to tell. Nagpur City, Second Capital of Maharashtra, is being punished. Punished for being intelligent, punished for being large hearted, punished for sacrifice, and above all, punished for being not guilty. Nagpur City is finding itself at receiving end when it comes to smooth and regular electricity supply. Apart from hours and hours of load-shedding on whimsical grounds, electricity supply gets interrupted by drop of a hat. (Weather woes like strong winds, heavy rains courtesy poor machinery and maintenance). All these problems despite Nagpur being a decent, honest city.

A report of MSEDCL (Maharashtra State Electricity Distribution Corporation Limited), the electricity supplier, itself shows Nagpur a good city. But the same MSEDCL leaves no stone unturned to hurl injustice on a law abiding city. Nagpur recorded the least number of power theft cases when the MSEDCL undertook a special drive across Maharashtra to detect pilferage of electricity.

It may be recalled, Nagpur Today had run a report titled: “MSEDCL nets Rs 10 crore from power stealers in a special drive across State, 1007 booked” which said the MSEDCL flied high and netted more than Rs 10 crore on account of power thefts exposed in a state-wide crackdown. The MSEDCL undertook a special drive across Maharashtra in the month of May and detected pilfering of 16,25,840 units in 1007 cases. Subsequently, an amount of Rs 10.28 crore was recovered from 1566 electricity stealers and the offenders were booked under various sections of Electricity Act-2003 apart from other penalizing actions. The special drive was undertaken in 14 Divisions of MSEDCL. During the drive, the MSEDCL squads inspected 3292 consumers of Single Phase and Three-Phase connections belonging to domestic, commercial and industrial categories. Subsequently, action was taken against a total of 1007 consumers under Section 135 of the Electricity Act-2003 and 51 consumers faced Section 126 of the Act on the charges of power theft. Out of the above said offenders, complaints against 410 consumers have been lodged with various police stations across the State and the process in other cases is underway. The maximum cases of power thefts were detected in Kalyan (244) followed by Bhandup (193), Nagpur Rural (186), Amravati 167), Nashik (118), Pune (110), Latur (110), Nanded (85), Kolhapur (79), Baramati (70), Ratnagiri (71), Jalgaon (62), Aurangabad (46) and the least in Nagpur City (25).

The above statement of MSEDCL makes it crystal clear that Nagpur City is much ahead in decency, honesty and way behind in illegal acts like power theft. But for MSEDCL, decent word holds no value. It needs hundreds of electricity thieves to value the service. MSEDCL’s motto, it seems, is: “Power is given only to him who dares to stoop and take it … one must have the courage to dare.” An inference can also be drawn from the MSEDCL statement, and motto, too, that “Pain and suffering are always inevitable for good, intelligent and large-hearted people. The really great men must have great sadness in Nagpur.” The words are true in real sense as Nagpur City is subjected to dark hours every now and then at slightest excuse. But the picture is totally different in other cities of Maharashtra, particularly the western ones, where the sun never sets (continuous and regular electricity supply). 24-hour power supply despite being guilty on the charges of electricity theft and other offences. The MSEDCL statement conspicuously and unscrupulously did not mention the record of power thefts in Mumbai whereas the drive was undertaken across Maharashtra. May be bigwigs from political, industrial, commercial and other fields involved in the power theft. Or may be MSEDCL have no jurisdiction. But the fact is Mumbai baths in bright illumination and stays cool for 24 hours a day, 7 days a week and 30 days a month. Because it is Capital City. The Second Capital City is for the sake of name and game only. But Nagpur City is honest. Then why the punishment? Is MSEDCL taking a cue from Western Maharashtra leaders in meting out step-motherly treatment to Nagpur?

In the present situation of injustice despite being not guilty, Nagpur citizens can brag the words: “…there is power in self-sacrifice.” But at the same time the cautioning words are: “Don’t sacrifice yourself too much, because if you sacrifice too much there’s nothing else you can give and nobody will care for you.”

And for MSEDCL, it could follow the words and be rational: “Rather let the crime of the guilty go unpunished than condemn the innocent”.

On 13.6.2014, P A Umak, Food Safety Officer, Bhandara, visited Sarve’s godown for inspection. During inspection, the Food Safety Officer Umak, in his report, pointed out many shortcomings prevailing in M/s Yashraj Enterprises pertaining to documents, safety standards and other aspects. The said notice was signed by Ashok Nagorao Athawale, the designated Officer and Assistant Commissioner (Food).

After receiving the notice, the owner of M/s Yashraj Enterprises, Dhanraj Shalikram Sarve asked his younger brother Ramraj Sarve to go to Food and Drugs Administration Office, Bhandara for further seeking further details in the matter. Accordingly, on 13.6.2014 at about 3 pm, Ramraj Sarve went to Food and Drugs Administration Office in Bhandara and met the Assistant Commissioner A N Athawale in this connection. However, Athawale, after reading the notice, demanded a bribe of Rs 15,000 for dumping the matter and another Rs 15,000 for not initiating any action against M/s Yashraj Enterprises.

DCP-MinaNagpur News.

In a development of far reaching consequences, a police constable went absconding or missing when a high-ranking official reprimanded for negligence of duty. The wife of the police constable too alleged that her husband is not be seen anywhere after Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP) Zone-4 Chandra Kishore Mina scolded him. She alleged harassment at the hands of DCP Mina the reason behind her husband going missing.  However, when Nagpur Today reporter contacted a police official for confirmation of the unusual   development, he, on the condition of not making his name public, said that the police constable is in habit of creating tantrums and resorting to dramas whenever he finds himself on the wrong side. This is his way of deflecting the real situation, said the officer.

According to sources, the drama was witnessed in Imambada Police Station in the city. The police constable, Sunil Rahdave alias Sunil Topi (in his friend circle) was on Charlie Duty in the night of June 13. A chain-snatching crime was reported from Ashok Chowk area that came under Sunil’s beat. However, the action of Sunil Rahdave was found totally negligent, irresponsible that amounted to dereliction of duty. At the same time, Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP) Zone-4 Chandra Kishore Mina was his routine round. When the DCP Mina reached Imambada Police Station he was informed about the chain-snatching and the irresponsible attitude of Sunil Rahdive towards the crime. The outcome was on expected line. DCP Mina severely reprimanded and gave a dressing down to the police constable. Sources further said that this was not the first time Sunil was found shirking responsibility but he had a record of irresponsible behavior and dereliction of duty time and again. Reports of Sunil helping the anti-social elements poured in consistently.  Hence the police constable was in the books of higher officials for his unexpected tantrums.

DCP Chandra Kishore Mina is well-known for his upright, straightforward and no-nonsense style of working. The fact that the crime graph is showing a decline and many hardcore criminals behind bars is a sharp pointer to the style of working of the DCP. He keeps a personal watch on the activities in Imambada Police Station and the crime situation, too. The high-ranking official minces no words in scolding the staff when needed and is no miser in praising them as well.

However, the severe reprimand of police constable Sunil Rahdave took a dramatic turn when his wife, in a well-planned conspiracy, lodged a complaint with Imambada police wherein she alleged harassment of her husband at the hands of Deputy Commissioner of Police Zone IV Chandra Kishore Mina.

Kiran Rahdave, wife of Sunil, informed Imambada police that Sunil left house for his duty on June 13 on his Pulsar motorcycle at around 8 pm. However, her husband did not return home even after duty hours. She searched for him and enquired with his colleagues and friends about Sunil’s whereabouts but they were clueless as well.

According to sources, Kiran further alleged that Sunil was in stress for past few days allegedly due to harassing words and actions of DCP Chandra Kishore Mina. Kiran alleged that DCP Mina insulted her husband on many occasions that caused stress to Sunil. Kiran in her complaint mentioned that Sunil had shared his ordeal with her and thus she suspected that this harassment might have led to Sunil’s disappearance, said the sources.

The development has resulted in a massive search for Sunil Rahdave and the staff of Imambada Police Station has started scanning every possible spot where the absconding police constable could be traced. Now, the focus is on the revelation Sunil Rahdave would make once he is traced or he himself appears on the scene.
