Nagpur Today : Nagpur News

The Directorate of Technical Education, Maharashtra has released the Common Entrance Test (MHT CET) 2018 Result on Saturday, June 2, 2018.

According to the sources the MHT CET result has been uploaded on the official website and the students can check it through their login from Sunday morning onwards.

The results have been sent to the student on their registered cell numbers through SMS, the sources said.

Fewer engineering aspirants scored 176 and above out of 200 in the MHT-CETresults released by the state’s CET cell last evening.

The highest score in the engineering entrance test too fell marginally to 195 from 197 in 2017. While students will get to check their scores post-midnight (Saturday), Ahmednagar’s Aditya Abhang and Mumbai’s Mona Gandhi from Kandivli topped the entrance test for admissions to engineering colleges in Maharashtra.

Kadam Abhijit Uddhavrao topped in the PCB category with a score of 188 in MHT-CET 2018.

Jahnvi Mokashi emerged as the topper among girls with a score of 183 in PCB and Mona Gandhi topped in the PCM category with a score of 189.

Abhang, who is from Ahmednagar, said, “I had checked the answer key and therefore was sure of getting 195. But I did not expect to get the first rank in the state. Though I have appeared for JEE (Advanced), I wish to pursue computer science from College of Engineering, Pune, using my CET Scores,” said Abhang. After completing his degree, he wishes to attempt the UPSC exam and serve the country. Abhang’s father is a civil engineer in Ahmednagar and mother is a housewife.

Last year, 297 students scored 176 and higher in MHT-CET. This year, the numbers dropped to 257, though most students found the paper easier. The total number of students who scored more than 100 in PCM, too, dropped to 22,073 from 22,236 last year.

Around 257 students scored between 176-200 in the test in PCM and 277 scored in the same range in PCMB category.

Students had raised some queries and objections to questions in the CET paper after the answer key was released. The subject experts found that three questions—two from maths and one from chemistry—had discrepancies. The CET cell, therefore, decided to make the three questions invalid and bonus marks of five were given to all.

NAGPUR: Renovated bar room number two, three and four, which have all the modern facilities that will facilitate a better interaction between lawyers and litigants, were inaugurated on the high court premises on Sunday.

Senior administrative judge of the Nagpur bench of Bombay high court BP Dharmadhikari, lawyers PN Deshmukh, Atul Chandurkar and legal luminaries were present at the function organized by High Court Bar Association (HCBA).

These rooms have been renovated with monetary contribution from lawyers so that they could give time to their clients. Earlier, there was a space crunch and litigants had to wait for long to meet the lawyers. With the latest facilities, this problems would be eased to a great level.

Each bar room has approximately 50 chambers. Hygienic toilets have been built while canteen services and stationery will be provided. Library at the ground floor will also provide a ready reference to lawyers.

Speaking to Media, HCBA chief Anil Kilor said, “Though chambers have been provided to some junior practitioners as well, the waiting list is quite long. Plans are afoot to construct a separate building for them.”

Advocate Ganesh Khanzode said, “There are times when working hours and time of hearings clash. Therefore, HCBA has plans to allow interaction between lawyers and litigants at the bar rooms even on Sundays. Space and a stenographer would be provided for a nominal fees.”

Khanzode said, “Renovation of bar rooms was worth applauding as the lawyers contributed voluntarily and no funds were sought from the government. It is now our responsibility to maintain the chambers well.”

The ceremony was organized by Dr Yashwant Manohar Amrut Mahotsav Samiti and Yashwantrao Chavan Pratishtha, Divisional Centre, on the 75th birth anniversary of noted writer and thinker Yashwant Manohar. The purpose was to acknowledge the contribution of stalwarts who are dedicatedly working towards bringing about a positive change in the society.

On receiving the award, Waghmare said, “I have always desired to bring about reforms in our society while being associated with different departments. Row over RSS invite: Cracks in Congress ranks? Ex-party colleague supports ‘secular’ Mukherjee

Nagpur Today : Nagpur News

Nagpur: While a lot of senior Congress leaders have asked their former colleague and ex-President Pranab Mukherjee not to attend the June 7 Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) event in Nagpur, Maharashtra, other Congress leaders see nothing wrong in the former Union minister accepting the invite of the Hindu outfit labelled by the grand old party as “communal and divisive”.

On Sunday, former Union minister and senior Congress leader Sushil Kumar Shinde extended support to Mukherjee, who was with the Congress for almost five decades before he became the President in 2012. Former Union home minister Shinde said that Mukherjee was “not wrong” in accepting the RSS invitation to speak at its event as he was “a secular person and a good thinker”.

“Pranab Mukherjee is a secular person. He will always put forth a secular view which he will do there (at the RSS event) as well. He is a very good thinker, and his going there and speaking on that platform is very important,” Shinde said. Shinde added that “we would be more than pleased” if the former President’s thoughts bring some improvement in the Bharatiya Janata Party’s (BJP’s) ideologue RSS.

Mukherjee has been invited to be the chief guest at the valedictory function of the Sangh Shiksha Varg — a training camp for RSS volunteers — at its headquarters in Nagpur. Shinde was speaking to reporters on the sidelines of an event in Nagpur.

Earlier, former Union finance minister and senior Congress leader P Chidambaram said that he wants Mukhejee to tell the RSS what is wrong with its ideology. “Now that he (Mukherjee) has accepted the (RSS) invitation, there is no point in debating about it. Sir, please go there (RSS headquarters) and tell them what is wrong with their ideology,” Chidambaram said. However, Congress leaders like Jairam Ramesh and CK Jaffer Sharief in their individual letters to Mukherjee asked him to “skip” the RSS event as it will be a “negation of his entire political life”.

Breaking his silence over the row, the 82-year-old former President told Bengali daily Anandabazar Patrika, “Whatever I have to say, I will say in Nagpur. I have received several letters, requests and phone calls, but I haven’t responded to anyone yet.”

Victim
Nagpur: In a bizarre case, a man who exploited a woman sexually on the promise of marriage for over six years, was driven away by his mother and three other relatives on the day of marriage. The accused thus cheated the woman and her family to the tune of Rs 3 lakh spent for the marriage ceremony.

The accused, Pravin Shivcharan Shamkuwar, resident of Bhandeplot, Sevadal Nagar, lured the 27-year old woman with tying nuptial knot with her in the year 2012. Since then Pravin abused the woman sexually till June 3, 2018. As per ‘promise’ of the accused, his ‘marriage’ with the victimised woman was fixed on June 3. However, in a quirk of twist and turn, the mother of accused Pravin, Sushilabai Shivcharan Shamkuwar and three other relatives namely Pranita Nitin Salve, Anita Sachin Bahadure and Anita Saumitra Meshram, all residents of Bhandeplot, Sevadal Nagar, drove away Pravin and did not allow him to come for the fixed marriage. It could be the ploy of all the accused to scuttle the marriage with the exploited woman. The accused Pravin Shamkuwar, his mother, and three other relatives thus cheated the woman and her family to the tune Rs 3 lakh they spent for wedding ceremony apart from her sexual exploitation.

Sakkardara PSI Dole, based on the complaint of the victim woman, booked the accused Pravin Shamkuwar, his mother Sushilabai Shamkuwar, Pranita Salve, Anita Bahadure and Anita Meshram under Sections 376(2)(N), 420, 294, 323 of the IPC and probing the matter further.

Nagpur: Students staying at Ravinagar-based Boys Hostel continued their sit-in agitation on Monday also in protest against RTMNU’s diktat. Notably, the Rashtrasant Tukdoji Maharj Nagpur University (RTMNU) had ordered those students whose academic session was over to vacate the Boys Hostel after June 10. The hostel students had protested this order and launched sit-in agitation from Sunday.

The hostel students said, the competitive exams are being conducted in the coming two months. For these exams, the stay in the hostel is must for many students. “Vacating the hostel and searching for other alternative accommodation would consume lot of time that would ultimately affect their preparations for the competitive exams. Financial condition of most of the hostel students is poor and paying rent for other accommodation is not feasible. The PhD students as well as third year students should be allowed to stay in the hostel. We also want RTMNU to allow former students and relatives who had come to city to stay in the hostel,” the protesting students demanded.

The members of Dr Babasaheb Ambedkar Students’ Sanghatan had submitted a memorandum to Vice Chancellor Siddhivinayak Kane in this connection few months back. But still, the RTMNU issued the order to students to vacate the hostel.

Who should be more worried about Mukherjee’s visit to Nagpur – Rahul Gandhi or Modi- Shah duo?

Nagpur Today : Nagpur News

Nagpur: Despite many Congress leaders trying to dissuade him from doing so, former President Pranab Mukherjee is going to be on Nagpur on 7th of this month for the valedictory session – or the Tritiya Varsh Varg – of the RSS.

But the question to really ask is: Pranab going to RSS is really such a worry for Cong or is it the Modi-Shah duo that should take notice and read the writing on the wall?

Media accross the nation is buzzed by the news and many theories are floating about it – why he was invited, why he accepted, what is he going to say etc. etc.

The RSS invite to Mukherjee sparked off a controversy, as many Congress leaders expressed unhappiness over his acceptance, while the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and the Sangh saw nothing wrong in it. Many think its a worry sign for Congress led by Rahul Gandhi and partially they may be correct but the real worry is for Modi-Shah combine ( not BJP).

If you look at RSS history dispassionately you will see they can ‘ use and throw ‘. Its a known fact, in Nagpur at least that Modi was never an RSS choice as PM in run up to 2014 elections but circumstances was created in such way that RSS had to bend to Modi wishes.

RSS will celebrate its centenary in 2025

RSS was launched in 1925 will celebrate its 100th year in 2025. Thus for them wining 2019 election is crucial. Their aim is lofty.

In their centenary year they want their Govt firmly in saddle and show the world that RSS has achieved its mission of a Hindu Rastra.

“This was our aim, it took us 100 years but we have achieved it!”

RSS thought 2014 had set them firmly on the right road

Till now everything was going right, BJP was wining state after state in subsequent elections, till the juggernaut seemed to have come to a grinding halt. The less than expected result in Gujarat, disappointment in Karnataka topped by the recent by polls loss, the plot seems to be unraveling fast. Public anger against the present govt is growing and can be felt – despite many ruling politicians being in denial mode.

The government’s seeming helplessness to control the rising prices , farmers agitations and growing divide within the society has forced RSS to rethink to run up to 2019 election. Many of RSS own off shoots are not happy with the Modi-Shah regime. The coming event is evidence of that…

Pranab Mukherjee

This is not Pranab Mukherjee’s first meet with RSS leaders – it will be his 4th!

So the question is if this not first time Pranab is going to  meet  RSS leaders,  he has  3 times in the past as President have met RSS Chief Mohan Baghwat – so why this hue and cry now ?

Is their some hidden agenda in it. The reply is – Yes!

Enter Pranab’da’ the original Chanakya of present day politics

We have it from credible sources that RSS has already briefed and given a fine print of what Pranab has to speak on that day. He may focus of Mahatma Gandhi and quote Ambedkar to target Congress and partially Modi-Shah also – but not BJP . He will use the opportunity to divide Congress and create a way for non Nehru-Gandhi leaders in the old party. (Remember he has an ax to grind with Sonia? He was quite disgruntled when she did not make him Prime Minister in 2004 but chose Manmohan Singh instead. Even being made President later does not seem to have assuaged his feelings and his ego.) He seems to see an opening for his ‘special skills’ in 2019 in case of a hung Parliament.

May be not the P.M. and BJP President, but RSS now seems to be accepting the fact that in 2019 BJP may not be able to get majority on its own though they may emerge as a single largest party. In these troubled waters, the fact that Modi-Shah are now not acceptable to any existing NDA alliance partner is clear. Shiv Sena, TDP, Akali Dal etc. are already making their disenchantment clear; in fact it began with the contentious issue of demonetization. Chandrababu Naidu has been hinting that he is open to NDA without Modi-Shah at the helm.

Today in Bihar, JD (U) politicians have begun openly making statements in favour of Nitish Kumar calling him the ‘true leader of the alliance.’

It is becoming clear that if RSS wants BJP led govt till 2025 they may have to ditch Modi. And replace him with someone who is more acceptable to NDA partners. This is where Pranab Mukherjee comes in if he is able to split the Congress and get the new faction to join NDA.

If sources are to be believed Baghwat has already started working on this with consultation with the Original Chankya of Politics “Pranab Da”.

Let’s wait for June 7, and days after that, India is going in for a major Political Change…

— Sunita Mudaliar (Executive Editor)

Going solar to save Rs12 Crore a year for Maharashtra Metro

Nagpur Today : Nagpur News

Nagpur: MahaMetro’s move to supply solar power to its 42 Metro stations will save it Rs12 crore a year. The cost of solar power is Rs3.58 per unit while MSEDCL supplies it for Rs9.67 per unit. The Metro agency has started installing solar panels atop its three at grade stations, that are ready.

Brijesh Dixit, managing director of MahaMetro, told the media that the panels were connected to MSEDCL grid. “We will generate more than our requirement during the day and draw MSEDCL power in the evening. We plan to install panels atop our stations and the boundary wall of at grade section. We will generate 14MW and 65% of our energy requirement will be met through solar power,” he said.

According to Dixit, 962 panels will be installed atop Airport South, Khapri and New Airport stations. They will lead to a saving of Rs28 lakh a year.

“Panels of 68kW will be put atop Airport South station. One lakh units will be generated in a year and Rs6 lakhs will be saved. The solar capacity of New Airport station is 112kW, which will generate 1.6 lakh units and save MahaMetro Rs10 lakh a year. In Khapri station the installed capacity is 132kW, which will generate 1.9 lakh units a year and leading to a saving of Rs12 lakh,” said the MD.

The first panel was installed atop Airport South station on Monday. The installation work in the three stations will be completed in a month. Director (project) Mahesh Kumar, director (rolling stock) Sunil Mathur and general manager (administration) Anil Kokate threw light on the project in the function.

MahaMetro had to face several hurdles for going solar. Its planned installed capacity is 14MW but under MSEDCL’s grid connected solar rooftop policy, a consumer can generate only up to 1MW. MahaMetro filed a petition in Maharashtra Electricity Regulatory Commission (MERC) seeking exemption from this limit but did not succeed.

The Metro agency then approached Solar Energy Corporation of India (SECI) for going solar. It decided to submit separate applications to MSEDCL for each Metro station.
