voting
Nagpur: Around 23 per cent voting has been recorded so far in the re-polling in 49 polling stations for the bye-elections to the Bhandara-Gondia Lok Sabha constituency, a poll official said here on Wednesday.

There are no complaints of any glitches in the Electronic Voting Machine-Voter Verifiable Paper Audit Trail (EVM-VVPATs) so far at 11 a.m., the half-way mark of the polling process, which will end at 3 p.m.

The counting of votes will be held on Thursday.

The re-poll was ordered by the Election Commission (EC) after widespread incidents of malfunctioning of VVPAT-EVMs during the polling held on May 28.

The polling began at 7 a.m. across Bhandara, Sakoli, Arjuni-Morgaon, Tirora and Gondia assembly segments that comprise Bhandara-Gondia parliamentary seat in eastern Maharashtra.

Tuesday’s fast-paced developments also saw the Collector of Gondia Abhimanyu R. Kale — who was overseeing the Bhandara-Gondia parliamentary constituency elections — being shunted out and replaced by Kadambari S. Balkawde.

The high-stakes bye-elections to the seat, along with Palghar, remained inconclusive on Monday, amidst widespread glitches in EVM-VVPATs and allegations of foul play by all opposition parties and ruling ally Shiv Sena.

Black-ribbon Day observed by members of various Diocese of Church of North India

Nagpur Today : Nagpur News

Nagpur: May 26, 2018 was marked a Black Ribbon Day for the Christian community with the growing concern in the community regarding unconstitutional activities, public decisions by the senior leadership which in-turn assumed an overall threat to the fabric of the whole community.

The Church of North India was formed on November 29, 1970 by getting several churches. Together to reaffirm, focus in the tenets of Christianity and to enlighten people by portraying Christ like life in the community. This was a great day for the Christian community since getting everybody under one umbrella helped the entire community to boast of running hospitals, nursing schools, educational institutions and technical schools. The CNI has under its wings many hostels and homes where the organization has produced high profile personalities and dignitaries (who were the hostel inmates). The idea of coming together under one umbrella was to ensure smooth administration and fair practices keeping in mind the Constitution laid down by CNI.

For the last few years it has been noticed that the leadership in the CNI has been taking unconstitutional decisions and has involved in actions which displayed ulterior motives (against the laid down rules and regulations in the constitution of CNI). This in-turn has caused unrest and chaos in majority of the diocese falling under the jurisdiction of CNI. There are 26 Dioceses under CNI and a majority of them are said to be facing these unconstitutional decisions/actions by the senior leadership. This has

caused unrest in various dioceses, churches, congregations disturbing the very fabric of the community. Since the birth place of the unison of all the Dioceses coming together happens to be in Nagpur and a monument erected in the All Saints’ Cathedral compound to commemorate the unison, nearly 150 people from various dioceses got together and took out a Unity March to the monument. Songs were sung and prayers were said for peace and harmony to prevail in various dioceses. This Unity Movement has been started to highlight all the unconstitutional actions/decisions, of the leadership and also to show that people can unify, collect, gather to raise their concerns against the leadership for all the unconstitutional activities. It was heart touching to see more that 150 people with black ribbons on their arms and prayers in their hearts, encircling the monument and lighting their candles.

This movement of people was basically to enlighten each member of the community about the unconstitutional wrong doing for the community and to show solidarity and unity against the senior leadership. On talking to some members, we were informed that this movement will be carried out prayerfully and peacefully to make the senior leadership understand the feelings of the community at large.

Nagpur: Nana Patole newly returned to the Congress fold and Praful Patel of NCP were clearly the architects of this win.

In Vidarbha at least the CM’s ‘Sam dam dand bhed’ challenge given to BJP workers to ensure a win of the party ( at any cost) hasn’t worked.

It reflects people’s frustration, anger and disappointment, says Praful Patel.

“BJP like a melting glacier; melting everywhere”

This was a very apt description of BJP dismal defeat in the Hindi hinterlands of UP and Bihar, Punjab, Karnataka, Maharashtra, West Bengal, Meghalaya and Kerala – all states where BJP candidates have lost in the recently held and hotly contested.

Palghar has been one bright spot where BJP has won with an impressive margin of 29,000 votes.

In West Bengal TMC sweeps Maheshtala bypoll, winning with a lead of 62,000 votes, BJP ended second with 41,000.

Punjab – Congress wins Shahkot assembly bypoll seat. Congratulations to @INC & Hardev Singh Laddi for the landslide victory in #Shahkot bypoll. This victory has given us a 2/3rd majority in the Vidhan Sabha and I look forward to seeing the newly elected Shahkot MLA in the House” tweeted Captain, CM of Punjab.

Uttar Pradesh – RLD leading, definite of victory. “Would like to thank all parties who supported us, thank Akhilesh ji, Mayawati ji, Rahul ji, Sonia ji, CPIM, AAP and others. Jinnah hara, Ganna jeeta”: Jayant Chaudhary, RLD on RLD leading in Kairana LS bypoll.

RLD’s Tabassum Hasan winning in Kairana.

Bihar – Goes to RJD.” The number of votes JDU got, is less than our victory margin. People of Bihar are continuing to avenge the uturn taken by Nitish Kumar” : Tejashwi Yadav on RJD won Jokihat assembly bypoll.

Power Tripping’s at Gorewada & Kanhan WTP’s to affect water supply on Friday

Nagpur Today : Nagpur News

Nagpur: Frequent power trappings at water treatment plants (WTP) (WTP) and its pumping house has severely affected the city water supply.

On May 31, 2018 at Pench-I WTP pumping stopped from 10:10 AM to 11:20 AM i.e almost for an hour due to electrical fault at WTP. Again, from 4:25PM to writing of the report now Power Supply from SPANCO to all Gorewada WTPs (Pench-I, Pench-II & Pench-III) failed and treated water pumping stopped.

Further following a major breakdown (big tree got uprooted in heavy storm and damaged the electrical pole structure of MSEDCL sub station) Kanhan WTP Pumping stopped since 4:45PM to till writing of reports
Above power trippings has impacted water supply severely to all parts of Nagpur City specially to Satranjipura Zone, Gandhibag Zone, Laxminagar Zone, Lakadganj Zone, Nehrunagar Zone and Ashinagar Zone on Thursday (May 31) and will affect water supply on June 1 also.

Power tripping at Kanhan WTP had majorly affected East, North and parts of South Nagpur areas during and after tripping hours, while trippings at Navegaon-Khairi pumping house and Gorewada WTP’s (Pench I, II, III & Old Gorewada) affected water supply of West, Central, South- West and part of South Nagpur localities.

Citizens of Nagpur especially from areas of

Kanhan WTP: Nehru Nagar zone, Lakadganj zone, Partial Satranjipura zone, Partial Aashi Nagar Zone based on Kanhan WTP.

Pench I, II, III: Laxmi Nagar New ESR, Gayatri Nagar ESR, Pratap Nagar ESR, Trimurti Nagar ESR, Jaitala ESR, Takliseem ESR, Ramnagar ESR, Chinchbhavan ESR, Buldi Fort 1 & 2 GSR , Boriyapura ESR, Killa Mahal ESR, Riffle, Futala ESR’s

Pench IV: GH-Kanhan ESR, Nari ESR, Jaripatka ESR , Indora ESR, Civil Lines DT, Indora DT, Omkar Nagar 1 & 2 ESR’s, Shree Nagar DT & Mhalgi Nagar ESR were deprived from precious potable water supply or compelled to live with either restricted, low pressure or no water supply in many areas. Their Taps received water with low pressure.

Technical experts in industry informed that frequent power tripping is the main reason of air interruption in the system which takes more time to evacuate. Normally it takes about 25 minutes to fill one ESR (Over head tank of 22.70 lakh liter capacity). Though the tripping period in WTP’s was from 5 minutes to 10, 15 or 20 minutes duration but due to tripping, the water levels of ESR’s which were under supply at that period was reached its lowest levels and supply was badly affected in the following areas and its post effects remains on those areas whose supply period is after the tripping period i.e in evening hours after 6 pm.

As per experts, normally after a small tripping of even a 5 minutes and after restart of pumping to reach the required flow rate of water from the feeder main pipelines it will take more than two & half hours period after the pumping was restarted. It may be mentioned here due to such power tripping’s citizens face problems and are compelled to receive either restricted, low pressure or no water supply, however NMC-OCW technical experts always try hard to manage the show to provide adequate water supply to citizens after tripping incidences. The inconvenience caused in water supply due to such power tripping is highly regretted.

Nagpur Metro Coachs

Nagpur: With a view to avoid any disruption of running of trains, Maha Metro Nagpur is all set to construct pocket tracks in all four corridors. Pocket track is essentially a side track, which is used to stable a train, in case of any mechanical breakdown of train. This track helps in restoring Metro train service on both corridors.

While work on Nagpur project is going on a steady pace, other alternate measures are also being taken. The measures are aimed at not just providing facilities to train passengers, but also to avoid traffic disruption in case of emergencies. While Segmental Girder is routinely used for laying of up and down track for Metro trains; I Girder is essentially used for constructing `Pocket Track’ s well as track for both up and down lines.

Normally, Metro trains ply on Up and Down tracks. However, a third track – Pocket Track is constructed for emergency purposes. Trains unable to move stranded due to mechanical breakdown are pulled with the help of battery operated power engine. The train is then taken and parked on Pocket Track to avoid disruption of traffic. The train is then taken to depot for repairs during night hours, when train traffic is at its minimal.

Length of Pocket Track is 100 meters. Pocket track is an essential feature to ensure that passengers are not stranded due to train breakdown. Such tracks are being constructed in all four Reaches of Maha Metro Nagpur. In Reach-I which stretches from Khapri Metro Station to Munje Square junction, Pocket track is being constructed near Rahate Colony station.

Similarly in Reach-III, which starts at Munje Square and ends at Lokmanya Nagar, similar track has been constructed near Rachna Metro Station. Similar Pocket tracks would also be constructed in Reach-II and Reach-IV at a later stage. These tracks in four corridors would go a long way in preventing traffic disruption in any eventuality arising out of mechanical failure.

Nagpur: “Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) always promoted the ideals of upholding Indian culture and the values of a civil society. In the RSS thinking, if India is to become ‘Vishwa Guru’ then the country must have to accept Swadeshi ideals steadfastly. For an egalitarian society and a strong India that could propound this philosophy, focus should be on social reform, economic uplift of the downtrodden, and the protection of the cultural diversity of the natives in India. Bud sadly, we have forgotten our inheritance and got trapped in western cobweb. We think had the British not come we would have been nothing. We are steel following the systems established by them. We think the systems are right. But this thinking is wrong. Change must come,” said Akhil Bhartiya Prachar Pramukh of Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh Arun Kumar.

Speaking as chief guest at Devarshi Narad Journalist Award function organised by Vishwa Samvad Kendra on Thursday, Arun Kumar underlined the role of media in the overall development of the society. He said all the stakeholders in media should give a thought on the existing pattern of content generation and consumption. “In 1840, the country’s first newspaper ‘Udant Martand’ is gets published in which image of Narad Muni is prominently published at masthead. But there is no controversy. The controversy erupts only in year 2000. Why? This point needs deliberation,” he stressed and added that the edition was launched on the birth-anniversary of Maharshi Narad but nobody had challenged the intentions of publishers.

Responding to the criticism of media, Kumar said that none other than friends working in media have to break the stereotypical mindset to revive the perception of the common citizen. He further suggested that churning and deliberations on the unnecessary subject should to be avoided to regain the lost credibility.

The Akhil Bhartiya Prachar Pramukh of Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh observed that reservations are being expressed only by some section having pre-conceived notions about our ancient treasure. They are not in a condition to acknowledge the existence of Bharat before the colonial invasion, Arun Kumar stated.

Expressing concern over the tendency of self-negligence, the RSS functionary opined that people should refrain from underestimating Indian thinkers and media has to take initiative to educate masses about the contribution of our forefather.

Addressing the gathering, Sidharthvinayk Kane, Vice-Chancellor of Rashtrasant Tukdoji Maharaj Nagpur University (RTMNU) suggested that media should tone-down the negative news flow. Read any newspaper, you will find headlines of 80 percent reports in negative tone, he said. Referring to the alleged nexus between media outlets and politicians, Kane advised scribes not to compromise with the ethics of journalism. “Change comes through positivity. Media must make efforts to accept this change,” the Vice Chancellor said.

On this occasion, senior Journalist Avinash Mahalakshme of Maharashtra Times, Nandu Andhare of The Hitavada, and Pravin Mudholkar of News Network 18 were honored with the Devarshi Narad Journalist Award for their outstanding contribution in the field of journalism. Prabhakar Karpe and Sushma Pachpore were also feted for their long association with Vishwa Samvad Kendra.

The programme was held at Anantrao Bhide Sabhagruha, 4th Floor, Dr Hedgewar Blood Bank, Ram Nagar. The introductory speech was made by Vishwa Samvad Kendra Nagpur chief Prasad Barve while Anil Sambre, Vidarbha Prant Prachar Pramukh, welcomed the guests. Ravi Meshram proposed a vote of thanks.
