Is Nagpur’s Jaripatka area becoming a hub of Pakistani settlers?

Nagpur: The number of Pakistanis settling in Nagpur’s Jaripatka locality and surrounding areas is increasing rapidly, leaving the Sindhi community astonished. Local residents have reported that Sindhis have been living in the area for decades, but in recent years, there has been a sudden surge in the number of people coming from Pakistan, a report in a local Hindi daily said.

People are puzzled and questioning how individuals arriving on regular visas are managing to settle here without undergoing any government procedures. Their presence is not limited to residential areas but is also growing in local markets.

According to the report, these individuals claim to be Sindhis, yet they do not participate in local religious events or community programs. What is even more surprising is that within just 2-3 years, they manage to obtain Aadhaar cards, PAN cards, and other official documents, yet there is no monitoring by government agencies. On one hand, intelligence agencies and the police closely monitor Bangladeshis, but no such regulations seem to apply to those settling in Jaripatka from Sindh province of Pakistan.

A member of the community revealed that over the past 6-7 years, a significant number of Pakistani nationals have been settling in Jaripatka and nearby areas. As per regulations, individuals must obtain citizenship and administrative approval before purchasing houses or shops. However, a large network is allegedly operating to facilitate their settlement. Initially, only 50-60 families were present, but now, hundreds of Pakistani nationals have made the area their home.

Long-standing traders face hardships

People arriving from Pakistan often rent houses with the help of their relatives. Gradually, they start working in local businesses. Since they speak Sindhi, no one suspects them. Before long, an employee working in a shop ends up becoming its owner.

Local residents, who work tirelessly to make a living, are struggling, whereas those who have settled from Pakistan in recent years are suddenly running businesses worth millions. The major question is: where are they getting the capital to invest in these businesses?

Local traders claim that these individuals have disrupted the market. Where a profit margin of ₹1 was previously maintained, they are now conducting business with just 25 paise margins. Large shops are opening without acquiring proper citizenship. Some have even entered the construction sector overnight, rapidly developing large-scale flat schemes. Reports suggest that these flats are exclusively sold to individuals from Pakistan, creating a monopoly in the market.

Document forgery poses a security threat

Local residents believe this situation poses a serious threat to Nagpur and the country’s security. There is no verification process to confirm whether these individuals, claiming to be Sindhis, are genuinely so. Even after their visa periods expire, they are not sent back.

Additionally, by deceiving local authorities, they manage to obtain residential documents proving their stay in Nagpur. Within just 2-3 years, they acquire Aadhaar cards, PAN cards, and even get their names registered in the voter list. They obtain business licenses and start shops.

Authorities must investigate when these individuals entered the city, the duration of their visas, and their current occupations. A detailed probe could uncover at least 5,000 such cases. If illegal immigrants from Bangladesh are considered a security threat, then why is there no surveillance on those coming from Pakistan? This remains a pressing question.

Nagpur Dalit Couple Wins Landmark Supreme Court Case Over ₹130 Crore Intellectual Property Theft

Nagpur: In a groundbreaking legal victory, Dalit researchers Dr. Kshipra Kamlesh Uke and Dr. Shiv Shankar Das have secured a historic ruling from the Supreme Court of India, recognizing intellectual property as compensable under the Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes (Prevention of Atrocities) Act. The case, which spanned over six years, led to the Maharashtra government being ordered to compensate the couple for the theft and loss of their intellectual property, as reported by The Mooknayak.

On January 24, 2025, the Supreme Court, led by Justice B.V. Nagarathna and Justice Satish Chandra Sharma, dismissed the Special Leave Petition (SLP) filed by the Maharashtra government, affirming the Bombay High Court’s decision. The court deemed the appeal to lack merit, setting a significant precedent in Indian legal history by recognizing intellectual property as a form of property deserving compensation under the Atrocities Act.

A Legal Struggle Against Caste-Based Discrimination:

The legal ordeal began on September 8, 2018, when the couple’s residence in Nagpur’s Laxmi Nagar area was raided during their absence. The raid, allegedly orchestrated by their landlord and facilitated by corrupt police officers, resulted in the theft of critical research data stored on laptops, pen drives, and academic certificates. Despite several attempts to file an FIR, Bajaj Nagar Police initially refused to register their complaint.

The couple claims that their caste identities became a point of contention in the Brahmin-majority locality. Their political activism, which included organizing a protest rally against the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) following the death of Rohith Vemula, further intensified the hostility they faced.

Impact of the Intellectual Property Loss:

The stolen data, which included over 5,000 research samples, severely disrupted the couple’s academic pursuits and crippled their NGO consultancy work with VARHAD, an organization that supports prisoner rights. The loss also resulted in missed opportunities to present their research to Union Ministers and difficulties in securing project funding. Additionally, the theft led to them losing their jobs, as they could no longer provide original academic documents.

“It’s not just about losing certificates—it’s about losing years of research, international conference contributions, and our careers,” Kshipra lamented.

A Landmark Legal Precedent:

Despite lacking formal legal training, the couple represented themselves in court. They meticulously researched provisions under the SC/ST (PoA) Act, successfully arguing that intellectual property qualifies as movable property deserving compensation. They quantified their losses at ₹127.55 crore in intrinsic value and ₹3.91 crore in instrumental value.

On November 10, 2023, the Nagpur Bench of the Bombay High Court partially allowed their petition, instructing the Maharashtra government to compensate the couple for their intellectual property loss. However, the state government did not comply and filed an SLP in the Supreme Court.

The Supreme Court’s dismissal of the SLP on January 24, 2025, upheld the High Court’s ruling, establishing a significant legal precedent for compensating intellectual property loss under the Atrocities Act.

Authorities Shield Police Personnel:

The investigation revealed that seven police officers were involved in tampering with evidence and fabricating documents. Although departmental inquiries found them guilty, they faced only minor penalties, such as withheld increments, with no criminal prosecution.

“We demand criminal action against the guilty officers under the Atrocities Act, but the state continues to shield them,” Das said.

A Milestone for Dalit Rights:

The National Commission for Scheduled Castes recommended an inquiry and action against the culprits, but the authorities failed to submit an Action Taken Report. The couple’s tireless legal battle highlights their determination to seek justice and create a legal precedent for marginalized communities.

“This victory isn’t just ours; it’s for everyone fighting systemic oppression. Intellectual property is as valuable as physical property, and this judgment recognizes that,” Kshipra emphasized.

This case marks a milestone in Indian legal history, paving the way for future cases involving intellectual property theft and caste-based discrimination.

As per Nikhil Behl, Co-Founder & CEO, Stocks at INDmoney, “The announcements around easing TCS help simplify tax compliance for individuals. TDS limit for dividend income hiked in Budget 2025, see how it will impact you

No income tax on annual income of up to Rs 12,00,000 is a game changer, says CEO, FPSB India
Income Tax Budget 2025 Live Updates: The tax exemption limit raised to Rs 12 lakh ensures higher disposable income, directly benefiting household consumption, savings, and financial planning. For salaried taxpayers, this limit stands at Rs 12,75,000, with Rs 75,000 as a standard deduction existing under the new tax regime.

“The new tax structure will significantly reduce tax burdens, empowering individuals to invest in their future. Additionally, higher TDS for non-PAN holders ensures fairness in taxation, safeguarding compliant taxpayers. The NPS Vatsalaya tax benefits further encourage structured retirement planning, securing financial stability for individuals”, adds Krishan Mishra, CEO, FPSB India

How has Budget 2025-26 made the Aam, Aadmi, and middle class happy?
Income Tax Budget 2025 Live Updates: These two major changes post the 2025 Budget announcements are set to have the most impact on the common man’s pockets. As per Anuj Puri, Chairman, ANAROCK Group:

Zero income tax for individuals earning up to Rs 12 lakh annually provides a major consumption boost. This move is also expected to strengthen demand for affordable housing. Additionally, the new income tax bill will retain nearly 50% of existing provisions while introducing personal tax reforms and rationalizing TDS and TCS regimes by streamlining rates and thresholds.

Investors can now claim Nil valuation for two self-occupied properties instead of just one – a positive move for residential real estate investment. The simplified TDS on rent decreases the compliance burden and enhances liquidity for landlords and will positively impact the rental housing market, especially in metro cities. Previously, homeowners could claim only one self-occupied property as tax-free; now, they can claim two, thereby removing taxation on notional rental income from a second home.

Taxpayers can now claim tax benefits for two self-occupied houses after Budget 2025-26 announcement
Income Tax Budget 2025 Live Updates:
In a significant move announced on February 1, Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman relaxed the conditions for tax relief on self-occupied properties in the 2025 Union Budget. Taxpayers can now claim tax benefits for two self-occupied houses, a major change from the previous rule that allowed relief for only one property.

“This reform significantly eases the tax burden for individuals who own and live in multiple properties, offering financial flexibility and promoting homeownership. By acknowledging the diverse housing needs of families, this decision not only provides greater tax relief but also encourages real estate investment. The move aligns with the government’s broader focus on financial empowerment and ease of living, strengthening the middle class while simplifying the tax structure”, adds Adhil Shetty, CEO of Bankbazaar.com

Income Tax Budget 2025 Live Updates: In a much anticipated move, the government has announced an increase in the rebate limit under Section 87A of the Income Tax Act. For salaried individuals, who are eligible for a standard deduction of Rs 75,000, the effective rebate limit now stands at Rs 12.75 lakhs.

“This increase is expected to provide much-needed financial relief to many taxpayers, reducing their overall tax burden and improving disposable income. Nagpur: In a landmark verdict, a special POCSO court in Nagpur sentenced a former school guard to three life imprisonments for sexually abusing minor students at an Ashramshala. The convict, Homdeo Padole, was found guilty under various sections of the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act and the Indian Penal Code (IPC). The court also imposed a total fine of ₹40,000, which will be given to the survivors after the appeal period.

Delivering the judgment on Friday, Special Judge J A Sheikh sentenced Padole under Sections 4 and 6 of POCSO for sexual abuse and Section 377 of IPC for unnatural intercourse. While the sentences were pronounced separately, they will run concurrently, stated Additional Public Prosecutor Rashmi Khaparde, who represented the prosecution.

The court also found Arun Husukle, a senior official of the school management, guilty of abetting the crime by failing to act despite being informed about the guard’s misdeeds. However, two teachers, who were also accused, were acquitted due to lack of sufficient evidence against them. The court dropped charges under the Scheduled Caste and Scheduled Tribes (Prevention of Atrocities) Act in this case.

The case dates back to December 2016, when three separate offences were registered against Padole at the Bori Police Station. He had already been convicted in the first case, and the trial in the third case is still pending.

In addition to life imprisonment, Padole was sentenced to three years under Section 8 of POCSO, along with a ₹5,000 fine. One year under Section 506 of IPC for criminal intimidation, with another ₹5,000 fine.

The court also directed the District Legal Aid Services Cell to ensure that the survivors receive compensation under Maharashtra’s Manodharya scheme, which provides financial aid and rehabilitation support to victims of sexual violence.

RTE admission deadline extended till Feb 2 in Maharashtra

Nagpur: The Maharashtra Government has extended the RTE admission application deadline till February 2, from the earlier January 28. Under the Right To Education (RTE) quota, 25% seats are reserved in all schools (except unaided minority institutions) for free education of students who fall under different categories defined by the government.

In Nagpur district, there are 7,005 seats available under RTE and each year over three times more applications are received. The surprising thing however is that despite so many applications coming in for every seat, Nagpur still records vacant seats in each academic year. Same is the case with big cities like Mumbai and Pune. This is because parents want admission in big brand CBSE schools of Nagpur, and if they don’t make the cut, they withdraw en-mass.

So far, Nagpur district has received 26,000 applications streaming in online. The State Government has made the entire RTE process online, which starts with parents submitting their application along with relevant documents. They have to choose their preferred schools, starting with their top choice in the number one column. The list of schools is available in the online portal and parents simply have to select from the drop-down menu on screen.

Once the applications are filed, the govt announces a date for the lottery. The online lottery is necessitated due to applications always being more than available seats. The online lottery results are released on the portal and a message is sent via SMS to parents about their selection.

The parents then have to physically visit the school and submit original documents (birth certificate, caste certificate etc) and complete the admission formalities.

The application process, which commenced on 14 January 2025, was initially set to close on January 27, 2025. However, to provide parents with additional time and convenience, the deadline has been extended to February 2, 2025.

According to the Education Department, over 2.3 lakh applications have been received for approximately 1.09 lakh seats available across 8,863 schools in the state. Following the application phase, a verification process will be conducted for all submissions. Thereafter, a lottery draw will determine the allocation of seats. Parents of selected children must secure admission to the designated school by submitting the required documents. No admission or school fees will be charged for these students, as the government reimburses tuition fees directly to the respective schools.

The RTE Act guarantees free education for children from Classes I to VIII in English-medium schools.

Nagpur: In a major enforcement drive aimed at reclaiming pedestrian space, the Nagpur Traffic Police penalised 4,250 offenders for encroachments and illegal parking during the 16-day ‘Mission Footpath Freedom’ campaign. The initiative, which ran from January 17 to 31, targeted hawkers and vehicle owners obstructing footpaths, forcing pedestrians onto busy roads and contributing to accidents.

With 70 pedestrian fatalities reported last year due to lack of walking space, the Traffic Department, led by DCP (Traffic) Archit Chandak, intensified efforts to clear encroachments and regulate parking. Flying squads and towing vehicles were deployed across all ten police divisions to ensure strict enforcement.

Major actions taken:

• 305 vehicles towed for illegal parking.

• 592 offenders booked under Sections 102 and 117 of the Motor Vehicle Act (MVA).

• 3,353 individuals penalised under Sections 122 and 177 of MVA.

Despite repeated drives, encroachments resurfaced in several areas. However, the Traffic Department, in coordination with the Nagpur Municipal Corporation (NMC), continued its crackdown to maintain footpath accessibility.

Hotspots of action

Among the ten traffic zones, the Sonegaon Zone saw the highest number of violations (1,113 cases), covering busy stretches such as IT Park Road, Laxmi Nagar, and Wardha Road. Other zones with significant action included:

• Sakkardara Zone: 855 cases

• Lakadganj Zone: 430 cases

• Sadar Zone: 386 cases

• MIDC Zone: 344 cases

• Ajni Zone: 322 cases

Interestingly, no towing cases were reported from MIDC, Lakadganj, Ajni, Indora, and Kamptee zones, highlighting disparities in enforcement across different areas.

While ‘Mission Footpath Freedom’ has made a notable impact, authorities acknowledge the challenge of recurring encroachments and emphasize the need for sustained enforcement to keep the city’s walkways obstruction-free.

Maha Govt rolls out new sand mining policy, invites public feedback

Nagpur: In a bid to regulate sand mining and address environmental concerns, the Maharashtra Government has unveiled a new sand extraction policy and invited public objections and suggestions until February 7, 2025. The policy aims to curb illegal excavation, ensure fair distribution, and promote ecological sustainability, while balancing the demands of the construction sector.

State Revenue Minister Chandrashekhar Bawankule emphasized the importance of public participation in shaping the final policy. “This policy will eliminate theft, guarantee immediate sand availability, and prioritize villagers and builders. We aim for full transparency in its implementation,” he stated.

Refining the sand supply system

The government’s new framework builds upon past models, including depot-based and auction-based systems, both of which faced logistical challenges. During 2023-24, the state experimented with a depot-based system to streamline supply but encountered operational inefficiencies. Now, the government plans to refine its allocation mechanisms to prevent shortages and ensure transparency.

Artificial sand to replace riverbed mining

A key highlight of the proposed policy is a major push toward artificial sand in public infrastructure projects. Given the dwindling natural sand reserves and environmental concerns, the Public Works Department (PWD) and Water Resources Department (WRD) have been directed to mandate artificial sand use in all future projects. The government envisions a complete transition to artificial sand by 2028.

Additionally, large-scale mining operations producing overburden sand and minor minerals will be required to integrate these materials into the supply chain, reducing reliance on riverbed mining. The policy also proposes stricter regulations on inter-state sand transportation to curb illegal exports and control cross-border trade.

Public participation invited

To ensure transparency, the draft 2025 Sand Extraction Policy has been published on rfd.maharashtra.gov.in and mahakhanij.maharashtra.gov.in. Citizens, environmental groups, and industry stakeholders can submit objections and suggestions via mahakhanij.maharashtra.gov.in or email deskkha1-sandpolicy@mah.gov.in by February 7, 2025. The government has made it clear that only feedback received within this period will be considered before finalizing the policy.

With sand mining remaining a contentious issue, the new policy aims to strike a balance between development needs and environmental preservation, setting the stage for a more sustainable future in Maharashtra.

The revised estimate for total expenditure is ₹47.16 lakh crore, including a capital expenditure of ₹10.1 lakh crore.

Items that got cheaper

The government has proposed exemptions and reductions in Basic Customs Duty (BCD) to make several essential products more affordable, especially in the healthcare and manufacturing sectors.

Exemption for Lifesaving Drugs and Medicines

• 36 Cancer and Rare Disease Drugs: The Union Budget 2025 proposes to exempt 36 drugs used in cancer treatment and for rare diseases from Basic Customs Duty. This measure is expected to reduce the financial burden on patients and improve access to life-saving medicines.

• 37 More Medicines Exempted: An additional 37 medicines will also be exempt from BCD, providing further relief to the healthcare sector. These exemptions are in line with the government’s efforts to ensure affordable healthcare for all.

Support for the Manufacturing Sector

• Critical Minerals Exemption: The government has proposed to fully exempt cobalt products, LEDs, zinc, lithium-ion battery scrap, and 12 other critical minerals from Basic Customs Duty. This exemption aims to reduce the cost of raw materials essential for manufacturing industries like electronics and battery production.

• Shipbuilding Raw Materials: Raw materials for manufacturing ships will be exempted from BCD for the next 10 years, encouraging growth in the maritime sector and facilitating the ‘Make in India’ initiative.

Promotion of Handicraft Exports

To further support the export of handicrafts, the government has announced a scheme to promote these exports, making handicrafts more competitive in the global market.

Exemption for Leather Products

• Wet Blue Leather: The government will fully exempt wet blue leather from Basic Customs Duty, helping the leather industry by reducing input costs for manufacturers.

Fish Pasteurii

The customs duty on fish pasteurii will be reduced from 30% to 5%, making it more affordable for processing and distribution, benefiting the food and agriculture sectors.

Items that got costlier

While many essential items will see a reduction or exemption in customs duties, some goods are set to become costlier, particularly in the tech and manufacturing sectors.

Increase in Customs Duty on Interactive Flat Panel Displays

The government has proposed increasing the Basic Customs Duty on interactive flat-panel displays from 10% to 20%. This measure aims to address the inverted duty structure and level the playing field for domestic manufacturers of such products.

Provisional Assessment Time Limit

The government has introduced a time limit of two years for provisional assessments, which will ensure quicker and more efficient customs clearance for businesses. This change will impact certain industries dealing with imports and exports, making the process more transparent and predictable.

Other Changes in Tariff Structure

• Rationalization of Tariff Rates: The Budget also proposes the removal of seven tariff rates, in addition to the seven rates removed in the 2023-24 Budget. This rationalization is part of the ongoing effort to streamline the customs tariff structure and make trade more efficient.

• Social Welfare Surcharge Exemption: The Social Welfare Surcharge will be exempted on 82 tariff lines that are subject to a cess, reducing the overall tax burden on businesses and industries that deal with these goods.

Impact on the market

The proposed changes are expected to have a significant impact on various sectors. Exemptions on medicines and raw materials will lower costs in the healthcare and manufacturing industries, particularly in shipbuilding and electronics. The introduction of a scheme to promote handicraft exports is a positive step towards supporting India’s traditional industries.

However, the increase in customs duties on interactive flat-panel displays could lead to higher prices for certain technological products, which may affect both businesses and consumers in the tech space.

The Union Budget 2025 presents a mixed bag of customs duty changes. On one hand, it aims to reduce the cost of essential goods like medicines and raw materials, while on the other, it seeks to correct the inverted duty structure in certain sectors. The changes to the customs tariff structure are in line with the government’s broader objective of making India a more competitive and self-reliant economy, supporting both manufacturing and export growth.

Finance Minister says Budget aims at ‘transformative’ reforms in 6 areas including Taxation, financial sector, power sector, urban development, mining, regulatory reforms. These domains remain central to the government’s agenda, aiming to stimulate economic expansion, enhance infrastructure, improve governance, and promote sustainable development across multiple sectors.

“Together, we aim to unlock India’s potential under the visionary leadership of Prime Minister Modi,” said the Finance Minister as she began her address. “This budget is dedicated to accelerating growth, driven by our aspirations for a ‘Viksit Bharat.’ Our economy remains the fastest growing among all major economies. The Budget 2025-26 continues our government’s efforts to secure inclusive development, uplift household sentiment and enhance the power of India’s middle class,” she added.

PM tells Sitharaman everyone is praising her:

After Nirmala Sitharaman presented the Union Budget 2025-26, Prime Minister Narendra Modi walked up to the table where the Finance Minister was sitting, sources said. Congratulating Sitharaman for presenting a “good” budget, PM Modi said everyone was praising her, they added.

Ensuring that all members have adequate health insurance will not only support their personal well-being but will also enhance their ability to perform their duty effectively, which will bolster the contributions of the fraternity in the economic growth of the nation.

Furthermore, budgetary provisions for continuing legal education programs can help legal professionals stay updated with evolving laws and global best practices. Providing tax incentives for investments in legal technology can encourage law firms to adopt innovative solutions, thereby improving service delivery and access to justice, the lawyer stated.

By addressing these areas, the Union Budget 2025 can play a pivotal role in strengthening the legal industry’s framework, promoting efficiency, and ensuring that the legal system effectively supports India’s economic and social development, he stressed.

Towering default: Mobile companies owe NMC over ₹72 crore in pending dues

Nagpur: The rapid expansion of mobile networks in Nagpur has left the Nagpur Municipal Corporation (NMC) struggling to recover over ₹72 crore in pending tax dues from telecom companies. Despite the rising demand for mobile connectivity, companies have continued to erect towers across the city without proper regulatory oversight, sources said.

According to NMC records, there are currently 1,189 mobile towers in Nagpur — an exponential rise from just 175 in 2011. However, the civic body has little control over their proliferation. In 2012, the state government attempted to introduce a policy to regulate mobile towers, but telecom companies took the matter to court, delaying its implementation. As a result, a large number of towers continue to be installed on residential and commercial buildings without a clear regulatory framework.

The issue is not just financial but also environmental. Residents living near mobile towers report a constant low-frequency sound, which they eventually grow accustomed to. Moreover, in the race to provide better network coverage, telecom companies reportedly increase frequencies, especially during cloudy weather. However, the Maharashtra Pollution Control Board (MPCB) lacks the necessary equipment to monitor frequency levels in the city.

Currently, the city hosts towers from various companies, including Jio (330), ATC (219), BSNL (41), GTL (26), Tower Vision (22), and several others. With no policy in place and NMC struggling to collect dues, the unchecked growth of mobile towers remains a pressing concern for the civic administration.

1000 का 5000 में ले लो: Fans fume as black marketing of Ind-Eng ODI tickets rampant in Nagpur!!

Nagpur: Cricket fever has gripped Nagpur as tickets for the much-awaited India vs England ODI, set for February 6 at VCA Stadium, Jamtha, were snapped up within hours of going live on February 2. The high demand has led to a surge in black market activity, with touts reportedly selling tickets at exorbitant rates– four to five times their original price.

However, the enthusiasm for the match has been overshadowed by growing frustration among cricket fans, as many were left empty-handed despite trying to book tickets online the moment sales began. Hundreds of die-hard fans have expressed disappointment and anger over the widespread black marketing of tickets, with some even suspecting the involvement of an organized racket.

Several fans alleged that tickets were mysteriously “sold out” within minutes of going live, only to resurface in the black market at inflated prices– four to five times the original cost. “I logged in exactly at 10 am, but the tickets were already gone. Within an hour, people were selling them outside at insane prices. How is this even possible?” questioned a frustrated fan who had hoped to witness the thrilling contest live.

Social media platforms have also been flooded with complaints, with many demanding an investigation into the alleged malpractice. Fans suspect that a network of touts and insiders might be involved in hoarding tickets, making it difficult for genuine supporters to buy them at fair prices.

Meanwhile, Nagpur Police have taken serious note of the complaints and assured strict action against those engaging in black marketing. Authorities have urged fans to report any unauthorized ticket sales and warned that violators would face legal consequences.

As the excitement for the high-stakes ODI builds, the controversy surrounding ticket distribution has raised concerns about fairness and transparency in the ticketing system.

Online ticket sales, facilitated by District by Zomato, opened at 10 am, allowing each buyer to book a maximum of two tickets per mobile number and email ID. Fans can redeem their tickets between February 3 and February 5 at Bilimoria Hall, Civil Lines, from 9:30 am to 8 pm. Authorities have clarified that no ticket redemption counters will be available at Jamtha Stadium on match day.

Special bus service for match day

To manage the heavy footfall, Nagpur Municipal Corporation (NMC) has arranged special bus services from Panchsheel Square, Sitabuldi, to Jamtha Stadium. Buses will operate every 15 minutes from 9:00 am until late night, with regular ticket fares applicable.

The most active bidder was Gujarat Giants, which paid record amounts for two cricketers: 1.90 crore for batter Simran Shaikh and 1.70 crore for all-rounder Deandra Dottin. The team finished last in the first two WPL seasons, so the acquisition of two strong players should help Gujarat Giants improve their results in the third one.

The auction star was 16-year-old wicketkeeper-batter G Kamalini, the subject of a long haul between Mumbai Indians and Delhi Capitals. After a tough fight, the young talent was acquired by the WPL Season 1 champions Mumbai Indians for an impressive 1.60 crore.
