Nagpur The first dedicated breast cancer clinic in Vidarbha was launched on International Women’s Day at the Indira Gandhi Government Medical College commonly known as Mayo Hospital in Nagpur by the Maharashtra State Government.

The clinic screened 94 women on its first day and advised two women with breast lumps to undergo further investigations. The clinic is located near the surgery OPD No. 40 of Mayo Hospital and will remain open every Wednesday from 12 noon to 2 pm. Patients will receive free treatment for breast cancer.

Professor Arti Mitra, the head of the surgery department at Mayo Hospital, said that all government medical colleges of the state will establish similar breast cancer clinics.

Dr. Mrinalini Borkar, the nodal officer for the mission, shared the objectives and various programs planned, including screening women of all ages, creating awareness about cancer, and teaching self-breast examination with the help of pamphlets, posters, and audiovisual aids. Social workers will also be available to assist the women patients.

Dean Dr. Sanjay Bijwe emphasized the importance of early detection and stated that “IGGMCH has upgraded its diagnostic and treatment facilities for this clinic. We have installed a mammography unit, IHC, genetic and molecular testing. Early detection coupled with proper treatment can ensure 100% cure.”

To create awareness in rural areas, Asha workers, health workers, and medical college students will be trained to go door-to-door and educate women about breast cancer. Since rural women are often hesitant to visit hospitals, these teams will make special efforts to provide support.

Breast cancer is usually diagnosed in four stages, and the chances of a cure are much higher if it is detected in the first two stages. With advancements in medical science, breast cancer is curable even in the third and fourth stages with surgery, radiation, chemotherapy, combination, and targeted drug therapy.

Under company law companies cannot avoid filing of requisite form; if any compliance is pending it has to be filed with late fees and penalty. The directors, shareholders or relative of shareholder while giving or accepting loan to or from company should be checked that all the conditions of company law are complied with. He advised to keep note of all the related party transactions as they are to be reported in Director’s Report.

CA Bagdia explained the new provisions of Company Laws, where the law is more of compliance than governance. He further deliberated that precaution should be that outstanding payment to MSME’s over 45 days should be avoided, as it will give them chance to file petition at NCLT. He informed that a compulsory half yearly return to be filed by all companies declaring the outstanding over 45 days due from MSME.  He informed that where a company wants to increase its paid up capital, the issuing company should seek share valuation report and new shares cannot be issued at price below the valuation price. He also explained all the new forms recently brought by Company Law. He finally opined that the increased compliances in all the regulatory laws are diluting the government’s motto of Ease of doing Business.

From Banking perspective, CA Bagdia stated that banks internal credit rating should be obtained as interest on borrowing as dependent of this internal rating. If the ratings are low steps should be taken to improve the rating and lower the interest cost. HE further stated that term loans should be borrowed for acquiring fixed assets and cash credit must be utilized for funding working capital requirements. He asked the participants to check the projected turnover given to bank and actual turnover achieved, if there is shortage in actual turnover and limit is fully utilized it will not give correct picture to bankers and try to uitilise the limit within the given criteria.

Nagpur: In a bid to make the city more beautiful and attractive ahead of G20, Nagpur Municipal Corporation (NMC) and Police Commissioner Amitesh Kumar have taken an initiative to ban beggars from begging at the signals and squares.

The C20/ G20 delegates will be witnessing a ‘beautified’ and ‘beggar-free’ city as termed by the Nagpur Police. As per a report, city police chief Amitesh Kumar said, “Police and NMC had been holding discussions for the last one week to plan the drive. The presence of beggars on the streets brings bad name to the city at a time when it is being beautified in view of the G20 summit.”

But what if beggars are found begging?
If a beggar is found begging on the streets or signals, they can face imprisonment up to six months. The order approved by the NMC and Nagpur police will be applicable from March 9 to April 30, unless withdrawn earlier. The notification has been issued under Section 144 of the CrPC.

Where are the beggars going to go?
Various reports suggest that beggars will be relocated to the shelter homes with the assistance of several NGOs. However, when asked by NMC Commissioner Radhakrishnan B, he said that assistance will be provided to the beggars, however, beggars who are above the age of 60 or are pregnant will be shifted. “We will try to provide maximum assistance and will explore to maximum,” the NMC chief said.

Has this happened only in Nagpur?
Well, Nagpur is not just the first and only place to face this. Delhi, too, has been gearing up for the G20 summit and the news of slum demolition is making rounds.

Other than this, ahead of former US President Donald Trump’s daughter and advisor Ivanka Trump’s visit to Hyderabad, begging was made illegal in the city. In another instance, ahead of the former US President’s visit to Ahmedabad, the slums of the city were covered behind a wall.

Nagpur: As part of an initiative to convert Walkers Street at Civil Lines into a “Walkers Paradise,” Green Foundation has installed statues depicting the everyday life of citizens. Sponsored by Jayaswal NECO Group, the sculpted figurines provide a peek into the behavioral patterns and lifestyle of commoners. From the Rifle Circle to Ramgiri T-point, the road stretch is a paradise for walkers, who can make full use of it during morning and evening hours.

The statues are well maintained, thanks to Jayaswal NECO Group’s responsibility in their upkeep. Union Minister Nitin Gadkari inaugurated the sculptures, which include depictions of a young girl hooked to a mobile handset, a person jogging, an elderly person guiding a younger one, a woman pursuing her walk to stay fit, a sleepy person, a glam girl, and a person walking with their pet dog. One statue is thought-provoking, depicting the mindset among today’s youth and targeting girls with lewd comments. Each statue is captioned, and one shows an elderly person on a walk with the comment, “Still young.”

Tall trees and lush green grass dotting either side of the stretch add to the charm of Walkers Street. The initiative underscores the polluting nature of vehicles and the harm caused to human and animal life. The project aims to encourage people to walk for their daily commute, making it more enjoyable and convenient.

Pise told media that the speeding vehicle first came in contact with the guardrail from the left before hitting the divider where it toppled and landed on the other side of the carriageway. “I was working in my field around 7.55 am on Sunday when I heard a loud thud. I could tell that a major accident had occurred so I immediately rushed to the spot along with others working in the field. I saw women and children scattered on the busy road while a few of them were in a semi-conscious condition and the others were writhing in pain,” said Pise.

Nagpur: On one hand, citizens of Nagpur are quite pleased with the development of the city for the two-day C20 summit, but on the other hand the beautification at some prominent places seem to degrade the citizens.

Union minister Nitin Gadkari on Thursday unveiled the much-awaited covered statues at Walkers street (Ramgiri). The sculptures erected are based on ‘various kinds of people spotted on Walkers street.’ While there are sculptures of ‘mobile wale’, ‘the pet lover’, ‘glamour girl’, ‘still young’, ‘the morning person’, the one sculpture which caught everyone’s attention was the ‘chidimar jodi’.

The sculpture– of two boys erected in one of the most peaceful areas of the city has gained a lot of criticism from the regular walkers and citizens. ‘Chidimar’ is considered to be a demeaning term in Nagpur’s slang– meaning eve-teasing or who stares at other people.

Netizens, too, were not pleased with Nagpur Municipal Corporation’s decision to name this sculpture. “They actually immortalised Chidimar jodi (basically creeps who catcall women) in statue form at one of the best, most peaceful places in Nagpur,” a netizen commented.
