The tight security was result of the high alert issued by Nagpur Police Commissioner K K Pathak in the backdrop of serial bomb blasts at Buddhist pilgrimage centre Mahabodhi Temple in Bodh Gaya in Bihar.

Nagpur News: A security blanket has been thrown in and outside of Deekshabhumi in the backdrop of serial bomb blasts at Buddhist pilgrimage centre Mahabodhi Temple in Bodh Gaya in Bihar.

The tight security was result of the high alert issued by Nagpur Police Commissioner K K Pathak. The top police boss has ordered immediate arrest or detention of any suspicious person. The Deputy Commissioner of Police Chandrakishore Meena reviewed the security at Deekshabhumi, visited by hundreds of Buddhists and other people.

The policemen are keeping a hawk eye on visitors and several jawans armed with weapons in large number have been deployed at the spot. The Bomb Squads with sniffer dogs have scanned every inch of nearby areas of Deekshabhumi and the monument itself.

Deekshabhumi is Mecca for lakhs and lakhs of Buddhists, Ambedkarites and other people who throng the monument for gaining Bouddha Dharma Deeksha during entire year and specifically on the occasion Dussehra festivities. Dr Bhimrao Ambedkar had embraced Bouddha Dharma at the place where the monument has been built which is very appropriately called Deekshabhumi.

The Police Inspector Maroti Shende said, “after the serial bomb blasts in Mahabodhi Temple in Bodh Gaya in Bihar, tight security has been in place at Deekshabhumi in order to avert any untoward incident as the monument is very close to hearts of people and any incident could trigger nation-wide protests,” Shende said.

WCL union leaders demand the “tainted” CISF security cover for all WCL coal mines

Nagpur Today : Nagpur News

The demand was in the backdrop of Saoner MLA Sunil Kedar and supporters attacking and hitting M P Dargad, Manager of Sillwada Coal Mine Sub Area of Western Coalfields Limited.

Nagpur News: In an incident of showing muscle power, the Saoner MLA Sunil Kedar and his accomplices resorted to attacking and hitting M P Dargad, Manager of Sillwada Coal Mine Sub Area of Western Coalfields Limited (WCL). The trade unions have strongly protest and condemned the actions of Sunil Kedar and his supporters.

The WCL employees’ INTUC member Birendra Singh, HMS member U Ke Singh, ITUC member Mansoor Ahmed, CITU member Sinil Chavare, Welfare Committee member Brijesh Singh, Umesh Prasad, Acting President of BMS Union D S Naik, and others charged the criminal minded MLA Sunil Kedar and his supporters indulged in fighting with M P Dargad and abused him in filthy language. They even charged that the political leaders in the name of resolving problems actually blackmail high WCL officials for obvious reasons. The fresh example to prove the blackmailing fact is attack on M P Dargad, Manager of Sillwada Coal Mine Sub Area.

The union members have submitted a memorandum to Chairman-cum-Managing Director at WCL Headquarters in Nagpur and demanded deployement of Central Industrial Security Force (CISF) in order to curb entry of criminal minded persons in the coal mine areas. Moreover, the WCL mines have become sensitive and face dangers from such criminal minded persons, and, even anti-national elements, they said.

No contact could be established with Sunil Kedar for his comments on the incident despite several attempts. However, Pota Gram Panchayat Acting Sarpanch Vishwajit Singh informed that the Chankapur Colony of WCL is in grip of several problems.

On the other hand, according to the experts, the demand by union members for deployement of CISF is absolutely meaningless against the background of baseless  charge by the union leaders on the WCL’s own security men and private guards. The union leaders should first themselves come clean regarding who puts hurdles in the duties of WCL’s security men and private guards. They themselves seek illegal favours from the WCL security men and the private guards and push the security men on the edge. The security men, left with no choice, blend themselves with the environment to survive in their living.

Moreover, those who are demanding the CISF security must know that even in CISF are human beings. The same high-profile CISF is providing security in Jharkhand mines for the sake of security. The agency has turned “deaf and dumb” and encouraging corruption in a big way. Some CISF jawans have lost their lives due to the “system” in CISF. The CISF is neck deep in scams like boot polish to uniforms. The CISF would have to correct themselves first before curbing corruption elsewhere.

The sympathizers of WCL Sinu Viyanwar, Gourishankar Singh, Vardharaj Pillai, Gopal Choukse and others have demanded a comprehensive search or survey by the CBI every year. Then only everything would become clear and clean in public minds.

Nagpur News: The Vishwa Hindu Parishad leader Ashok Singhal termed Congress leader Digvijay Singh as mentally imbalanced and an insane person who is in habit of uttering non-sensical and baseless statements.

Ashok Singhal arrived at Nagpur airport en route to Amravati for attending a 7-day RSS camp to be held at Vyankatesh Lawns on Badnera Road in Amravati. The camp would be attended by key leaders of RSS, VHP and other associated organizations.

The VHP leader, briefly talked with media at the airport. When a scribe asked for his comments over Congress leader Digvijay Singh’s statement that the RSS provides training of bomb making in its camps to RSS Swayamsevaks, Singhal said, “Digvijay Singh has been frustrated over the fact that Congress would certainly be thrown out of power by the voters in the next Lok Sabha elections. And out of that frustration he gives baseless and meaningless statements after statements. In fact, Digvijay Singh has lost mental balance and has gone insane. Therefore, no intellectual person gives any weight to his absurd statements. My advice to him is that he should think twice before giving any baseless statement in future,” Singhal stated.

Replaying to a query on Narendra Modi, Singhal asserted,  “The Gujarat Chief Minister has been accepted and supported, too, as Prime Ministerial candidate by a vast population of the country. He is a very popular leader. He is a visionary. When a large number of people support Narendra Modi as Prime Ministerial candidate, my and VHP’s feelings could not be different from the vast number of people. We also want him to become the Prime Minister,” Singhal said.

Subscribers should not be punished in tussle between Cable Operators and TRAI – VTA

Nagpur Today : Nagpur News

Nagpur News: Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (TRAI) through a press release has directed Cable Operators / Multi System Operators to collect Consumer Application Forms (CAFs) along with photo, address and choice of channels and services from their subscribers and submit the same to the Authorities by July 10, 2013.

In case of failure in doing so, TRAI shall disconnect transmission all such set top boxes whose CAF are not received by the Department before such date, which has been extended by TRAI from time to time. Likewise TRAI has also asked subscribers to fill up the CAF and submit either to Cable Operator or Authorities.

Taking this issue in public interest, a delegation of Vidarbha Taxpayers Association (VTA) led by its President J. P. Sharma met Saurabh Rao, Collector Nagpur and submitted memorandum on the subject.

VTA also sent memorandum on this to Kapil Sibal, Minister for Telecommunication & Information Technology and Dr. Rajesh Khullar, Chairman TRAI, New Delhi appealing reconsideration of decision of disconnecting set top boxes on such prefixed deadline.

Sharma said although TRAI has attempted their best to convey such message to subscribers for submission of CAF, however still majority of subscribers are still unaware and have not initiated any action in this regard. Thus if Authorities disconnect set top boxes, it would lead to major confusion and may increase subscriber cable operator conflict.

Tejinder Singh Renu, Secretary of VTA said the ongoing tussle is between cable operators and TRAI. To gain advantage or to create pressure on cable operators, if TRAI threatens disconnection or disconnects in future, this would be clear cut breach of trust by the department.

Renu said, there would me millions of cable subscribers in the country and any aggressive step of disconnection to create pressure on cable operators would be nothing less than breach of trust by the Authorities as subscribers were never explained difference between buying set top boxes from cable operators and those offered by companies via dish. Majority of subscribers have opted to continue with cable operators and now such threats by authorities is definitely incorrect.

TRAI has never issued any Public Notice explaining difference between buying set top boxes from cable operators and those offered by companies via dish like Tata Sky and others. Majority of subscribers have opted to continue with cable operators and now such threats by authorities is certainly incorrect.

Admittedly TRAI’s mission to create and nurture conditions for growth of telecommunications in the country in a manner and at a pace which will enable India to play a leading role in emerging global information society is absolutely fine, however in doing so consumers / citizens / subscribers should not get squeezed for non fault by them.

VTA appeals to the Government of India and TRAI to reconsider the decision of disconnecting set top boxes for non compliance by Cable Operators and Multi System Operators (MSOs) which will harm subscribers directly and shall be against natural justice. Likewise before issuing any drastic directions, which may affect the subscribers, TRAI should issue ‘Public Notice’, so that all are well aware of the situation in progress and actions proposed ahead.

Collector Saurabh Rao agreed to the issues raised by VTA and assured VTA that in his remarks to the government, he’ll specifically mention that consumers should not be penalized.

Present in the delegation were Joint Secretary Pravin M. Agrawal, Executive Body Member Rohit Agrawal, Yogendra Mohan Singh and Sachin Jain.

Nagpur Today : Nagpur News

Nagpur News: Beware! The tradition or culture of keeping parrots and nurturing them very very carefully since thousands of years, could now cost you dearly. A family member of hundreds of Nagpur citizens has now appeared on Forest Department radars. The parrots, who are very fondly taught to talk with their keepers, would not even warn them of a danger.

The Forest Department would now consider raring or keeping parrots an offence under Vanya Jeev (Sanghrakshak) Adhiniyam, 1972. The citizens now have two options: Either free the parrots or pay a fine of Rs 25,000. The Forest Department’s permission is must to keep any species of listed animals or birds. However, the Forest Department, it is found, never gives permission for the same as it violates Vanya Jeev (Sanghrakshak) Adhiniyam, 1972. The citizens howsoever love to the parrots in their houses snatch the freedom of the beautiful bird.

The parrots must be free to enjoy the natural environment. Parrots have been declared a national asset. Therefore, the Forest Department, albeit, hundreds of years after, has urged the citizens to either release their loved parrots or face a fine of Rs 25,000 if found keeping the parrots with permission or without permission.

However, if one looks into the beauty and the quality of parrots to speak in human language, the bird species are the boon for citizens, and the bane for the bird itself.

BJP demands comprehensively correct lists of voters before Lok Sabha, Assembly polls

Nagpur Today : Nagpur News

Nagpur News: TheNagpur District Administration’s hasty and properly unplanned efforts to prepare lists of voters for Lok Sabha and Assembly elections to be held in 2014 have been found totally flawed with many shortcomings. The Administration had decided to remove names of those voters whose photos were not in the lists of voters along with their names.

Accordingly, the District Administration had set up centres to facilitate voters to get themselves photographed in order to have their photos along with their names in the lists of voters. However, the two centres each were set up at already existing voting centres in every constituency. However, the Administration, it appears, did not give a thought to the present situation. Now, dozens of new areas have cropped up in and around Nagpur city. The troublesome fact is that no voters from these far-flung areas turn up for photos in the voting centres situated 8-10 kilometers away from their areas.

After considering this inconvenient aspect, the efforts of the Administration have turned futile as far as comprehensive lists of voters is concerned. In simple words, the voters’ lists are not complete and, subsequently are full of flaws and shortcomings. Had the Administration set up photo session centre at every voting centre in every constuency instead of present two centrers only the problem could have been resolved. The Administration must set up a photo center at every voting center in every constituency rather only two voting centers, demanded BJP MLA Krishna Khopde.

Krish Khopde has submitted a memorandum of demands in connection with lists of voters and other related issues. Khopde said, “if the lists remain flawed and incomplete the thousands and thousands voters would be deprived of their voting rights. The Administration must undertake massive drives to include the voters whose names were deleted because of no photos in front of their names. Similarly, the District Administration has submitted various poll related reports to the Election Commission. Subsequently, the number of voters’ lists which are parts of the voting centers would be changed. Similarly the numbers of voting centers would also be changed. It is a time-consuming process, there while setting up voting centres, the Administration must consult political parties in this regard,” Khopde said.

Other BJP leaders who were present on the occasion include Rajesh Bagdi, Praveen Datke, Dayashankar Trivedi, Sudhir Deolgavkar, Prakash Totwani, Kirtida Ajmera, Subhas Bohre, Ramesh Shingare, Gopal Bohre, Sunita Yerne, the BJP PRO Chandan Goswami, and others.

No residence (the office) for “Laxmi” despite pouring maximum revenue to NMC coffers

Nagpur Today : Nagpur News

The Laxmi Nagar Zone, which contributes maximum Property Tax and Water Tax than other NMC zones, has been crying for roof (office building) of its own since past few years.

Nagpur News: Nagpur Municipal Corporation’s (NMC) handling of several issues of importance is 100 per cent beyond understanding of common citizens, and, even intellectuals, too. And the fact could be proved by a fact that the Laxmi Nagar Zone, which contributes the maximum tax revenue in the coffers of NMC compared to other nine zones, has no residence (office) for “Laxmi” the Goddess of Wealth itself.

The NMC has policy of having civic facilities centre in the same administrative building of each zone. At present, Dharampeth, Dhantoli, Lakadganj, Aasi Nagar, Hanuman Nagar, Mangalwari, Nehru Nagar Zones have their office buildings with Civic Facilities Centres. A Single Window System is functioning at these zonal offices. The citizens have not been forced to run from one office building to another for their paying taxes apart from other works as the administrative offices are in the same buildings.

The Chairman of Laxmi Nagar Zone Gopal Bohre has been turning tables for a year for office building of its own. At present, the Laxmi Nagar Zone office is run from a gymkhana of NMC. The gymnasium, supposed to be a powerful place, had suffered a roof collapse at the hands of Lord Hanuman Sena (Monkeys). The monkeys jumped on the roof of the gymnasium causing collapse of the roof.

The NMC mops up maximum Property Tax and Water Tax from Laxmi Nagar Zone. A proposal for office building for Laxmi Nagar Zone with an approximate expenditure of Rs 3.50 crore is already ready. Once the proposal gets sanctioned, the construction work of office building would begin immediately. Bohre is also trying to start the work as soon as possible.

The Satranjipura Zone is also going through the same situation like the Laxmi Nagar Zone. The blueprint for the office building by V K Constructions. The construction work of the office building of Satranjipura Zone would begin immediately once the proposal gets sanctioned by the Standing Committee of the NMC, sources said.

Cong men resort to checkmate rivals within party even before no election bugle sound

Nagpur Today : Nagpur News

Nagpur News: Even before the bugle of Assembly elections in Maharashtra has not been sounded, the political atmosphere in Nagpur, which consists of six Assembly constituencies, has started to blow hot blow cold. The flip-flops on the parts of aspirant Congress leaders over their choice of constituencies pushing the party workers into confusion and more confusion. The constituencies are North Nagpur, South Nagpur, East Nagpur, West Nagpur, South-West Nagpur, and Central Nagpur.

According to reliable sources, Rajendra Mulak got himself activated with eyes on Central Nagpur constituency. However, Anees Ahmed, played a “clever chess game” and, by a checkmating move, convinced Rajendra Mulak to gear up for the West Nagpur constituency and begin political activities in West the segment. Anees Ahmed told Rajendra Mulak of his intentions to contest the Central Nagpur seat. However, the think tankers close to Anees said he will himself try his luck from West Nagpur. The “Bishop move” (Diagonal move in chess board) by Anees Ahmed has hit two birds with one smart move. First aim of Anees is not to allow a crowd of his rivals to raise their heads against him in the West Nagpur segment by “declaring” he is contesting from the Central Nagpur. The “Central Nagpur declaration” by Anees will automatically divert his rivals’ spoil sport minds from the West Nagpur and they would keep themselves aloof from any anti-Anees activities thinking Anees is contesting from Central Nagpur. This way the political situation in West Nagpur would favour Anees to a great extent and might help him in winning the seat.

On the other hand, though Anees Ahmed “convinced” Rajendra Mulak to fight from the West Nagpur constituency, Mulak is feeling uneasy by the “Knight moves,” like in the chessboard, by city politicians. He has little hope of getting ticket in Nagpur city, and subsequently, targeting Kamptee-Mouda constituency. Even he has started playing all the moves of chess to win support from the voters in the constituency.

The other scenario would be like a rat race among Rajendra Mulak, Sameer Meghe and Aashif Quereshi, the Government Pleader,  if Anees Ahmed is fielded from West Nagpur. The trio then would fight among themselves for nomination from Central Nagpur. Sources said, Sameer Meghe has firmly decided to contest Assemble polls irrespective parties. The workers of both Congress and BJP have been anticipating, Mulak from Congress and Meghe from BJP. There is also possibility of Congress fielding Sameer Meghe from Central Nagpur, and, Mulak from Kamptee-Mouda. The BJP is on the prowl to field Sameer Meghe from Central Nagpur if the Congress party dumps Sameer Meghe. That is why politics is a different ball game, and, a chessboard, too, where every player wants to checkmate the rival.

On the other side, the political picture is dusty as Abhijit Wanjari and Vikas Thakre, too have been turning tables for Congress tickets. Wanjari is supposed to be of Mulak group, and Thakre is loyal to Vilas Muttemewar. Wanjari is claiming South Nagpur, and Thakre the West Nagpur. Wanjari is facing a giant hurdle from Muttemwar as the Nagpur MP has decided to show present MLA from South Nagpur Dinanath Padole the doors and enter his son Sameer into the arena in South Nagpur. On the other hand, Vikas Thakre is likely to be checkmated by the three senior Congress leaders namely Ashok Dhawad, Ranjit Deshmukh, Anees Ahmed who had demanded their claims for contesting the West Nagpur seat in the earlier Assembly elections. And Mulak is also another player. Both Wanjari and Thakre have no godfathers of their own in the power-center Delhi. In this tricky situation “Delhi Abhi Dur Hain” in the context of Assembly elections and their claims for Congress tickets.

NO CROWD OF ASPIRANTS IN SOUTH-WEST NAGPUR: The aspirants for Congress ticket for South-West Nagpur are almost negligible. One or two Congress workers demand ticket from this constituency. In the last elections, Praful Gudhde Patil and Vikas Thakre had put their claims for South-West Nagpur but Thakre “won” the ticket with the help of his boss Muttemwar but lost the elections. Praful is not wasting his time to claim the constituency and had decided to contest the polls for Hingna-Butibori seat. However, the Congress workers are demanding Mulak or Sameer Meghe for the South-West Nagpur so that the seat could be won otherwise winning the seat is not possible.

NITIN RAUT-SATISH CHATURVEDI: Both the Congress leaders, who enjoyed three terms of MLA and ministers, too, are firm even in the present political situation. If both leaders desert their constituencies, they could have to seat at home and not in Assembly. Satish Chaturvedi at present is seating in home with the defeat in the last elections. Both have certainly spread their empires nobody can assess but in politics nobody is king or pawn unlike the chess.

Nagpur News: The Spanco Nagpur Discom Limited (SNDL), the robber and tormentor of Nagpur citizens by way of faulty meters which race as if to compete with a horse, the nightmarish amounts of power bills, forcible change of meters, and absolutely no response to complaints of consumers even to a 75-year old cancer patient, has left citizens with killing anguish.

Most surprisingly, the Guardian Minister of Nagpur District Shivajirao Moghe and the Minister of State for Energy Rajendra Mulak, who a few days ago “roared like tigers and warned” Spanco to improve its state of affairs and not to harass the power consumers or face stringent action, were found seating like toothless and clawless “tigers” with unhearable “roar.” Both the leaders only uttered loudly “yes, yes” and supported Ajit Pawar who had refused to cancel agreement with the Spanco, according to a BJP leader who was also present at the meeting.

Nagpur News: The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) vociferously demanded cancellation of the agreement with the Spanco Nagpur Discom Limited (SNDL) franchisee immediately as the company has created a hell of a situation for Nagpur consumers.

The BJP leaders including MLA Vikas Kumbhare attended the meeting convened in Mumbai by Maharashtra Government subsequent to hundreds of complaints of Nagpur consumers like flawed power meters, bills of exorbitant amounts due to fast-swinging meters, irregular power supply, load-shedding for hours together, and most horribly no action on their complaints by the Spanco officials. The only response of Spanco officials to complainant consumers is: “First pay the bills then the complaints would be looked into.” (Similar to a Queen in the Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland who always ordered: “First cut off the head, then arguments”).

The BJP leaders informed the meeting, chaired by the Maharashtra Energy Minister and Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar, that the party would not any more tolerate Spanco’s “devilish state of the affairs” and torture of Nagpur power consumers at the “shocking hands” of the private franchisee Spanco. Kumbhare demanded immediate cancellation of the agreement with Spanco and save the consumers from hellish situation.

However, the Energy Minister Ajit Pawar did not accept the BJP demand saying, “the agreement will not be cancelled. But the Spanco would be directed to improve its services and provide a relief to the power consumers in Nagpur.”

The BJP MLA Vikas Kumbhare informed the meeting that during MSEDCL regime there were hardly any complaints from consumers. Everything was running in a smooth and regular manner. But since Spanco was given the contract the situation has turned like a “Narak” (Hell) for consumers. He also warned that an intense agitation would be launched if the agreement is not cancelled.

However, the Chief of Hanuman Sena Satish Chaturvedi supported the demand of BJP for cancellation of the agreement with Spanco.

The Spanco supplies electricity to Civil Lines, Mahal, and Gandhibagh Zones which consist 4.5 lakh consumers.

The meeting was attended among others by higher officials of MSEDCL, SNDL, representatives of consumers forums, MLA Dinanath Padole, NCP and Congress leaders and other political party leaders.

No employee, who had submitted bogus caste certificate for grabbing Government service, would be dismissed from service, assured the  Guardian Minister Shivajirao Moghe. The Maharashtra Government has issued a GR directing the employees to submit their caste certificates afresh before July 31. The GR triggered shock waves among a circle of Government employees.

Nagpur News: The Guardian Minister Shivajirao Moghe has assured that no SC/ST employee would be dismissed from Government even if found had submitted fake caste certificate. The assurance by Moghe has created a wave of relief for the SC/ST employees who were appointed in Government services under the reserved quota for SC/ST candidates. The assurance has colour of coming Lok Sabha and Assembly elections as the Congress party is in no mood to dent its votebank.

“The Maharashtra Government is considering inclusion of the employees in the same reserved quota category for SC/ST employees. This decision is likely to provide relief to thousands of SC/ST employees,” Moghe said.

The Maharashtra Government was shocked to find thousands of candidates had submitted bogus caste certificates for grabbing Government service under the reserved quota for SC/ST candidates. The rattled Government then decided to crack down on such employees who “stole” Government services on the basis of fake caste certificates and issued a Government Resolution (GR) directing the employees to submit their caste certificates afresh before July 31.

The GR turned a sort of “Ghost Rider” and sent shock waves among a circle of Government employees in general and SC/ST employees in particular who  anticipated certain dismissal from the Government service. The Advasi employees who were appointed after 1995 have also to submit their caste certificates before July 31. Even the retired employees have been directed by the Government to produce their caste certificates. The GR triggered a nightmarish situation for those employees who had submitted fake caste certificates.

Now, the employees have been feeling a sigh of relief after Moghe’s assurance that the employees would not be dismissed from service.  Such employees would be accommodated in the same department and the same posts. However, they would not be provided benefits of promotions in accordance with the reserved quota. Similarly, pensions would also continue to the retired employees.
