MIKANagpur News: Nagpur has been rocked and shaken again. Not by foot-tapping and gyrating music or thunderous singing. The reason is contrary. The “Mika Singh Live In Nagpur” Concert has been cancelled abruptly by the organizers on whimsical grounds. The concert, to be presented by Bollywood singer Mika Singh, was scheduled to be held on Saturday (July 12) at sprawling Kasturchand Park Ground in the evening. And Nagpur was readying to dance to the lively tunes and beating of drums.

When Nagpur Today contacted Police Inspector Rathod of Sadar Police Station for his version on cancellation of the musical programme, he said that as far as permission for staging the show was concerned a report to ACP was sent. In the report, Sadar police had apprehended untoward incidents like chaos, stampede if sudden heavy rains were to occur since the show was being held in open ground. Disruption of law and order was also not ruled out. The ACP, in turn, sent the report along with his crucial remarks to Collector. The Collector’s Office told Nagpur Today that after considering the police report and other facts like security threat, permission to hold the programme was not granted to the organizers.

While speaking exclusively to Nagpur Today, DJ Samuel Timothy who was a part of the Official Promotion Partners, said that this is a cruel action by the police. He said that they had applied for permission from the Special Branch and had put up the application on July 1, 2014. The organizers were assured of getting the permission letter on July 8, 2014. However, they got the shock of their life when they were called up to convey that the permission is being denied. The organizers had gone to the Special Branch to find the reason. The police officials said that they could not get the permission because the Sikh and Muslim Community had raised objections to the event. The cops added that if the show goes ahead as planned, riots may occur and since they have a threat perception, they have denied permission. Samual Timothy alleged that the cops asked the organizers: Are they ready to take the responsibility of riots or clashes? The organizers had allegedly replied that they have organized Bouncers and are ready to pay for police protection. However the cops made their stand clear and refused the permission.

Samuel said that they wanted to revive the spirits of the city youth. If this continues, soon no celebrity will come to the city. He opined that we had all the required permissions from all other departments and finally, the Special Branch denies permission and plays the spoil sport. He said that the event promotion group has all young boys between the age group of 21 to 26. If the cops do such of things, they will get demotivated.

Nagpur Today contacted Govind Jaiswal, owner of Big Blue Events, the organizer of “Mika Singh Live In Nagpur” concert, to ascertain reasons for cancellation of the programme at nick of the time. He said that the main reason of cancelling the show is technical. “On technical grounds the show is off. The rumours that the organizers were receiving threats from some quarters to cancel the show are baseless. There were no threats. To say that permission was not granted holds no water. Everything was okay. In fact, the show has not been cancelled. It has been postponed. The next date will be announced in consultation with all interested parties including Mika Singh. More importantly, many of ticket holders have been given refunds online and by hand as well. Soon all the ticket holders will be returned their money and efforts are being in this direction,” claimed Govind Jaiswal.
