Investigations in a suicide case of a 25-year-old married woman revealed that the woman ended her life due to dowry harassment. Husband of the deceased has been arrested while the mother-in-law and father-in-law have been booked in this connection.
The woman, identified as Savitri Jagat Lodhi (25), hanged herself at her residence at Plot No. 1363, near Hanuman Mandir on June 15. She was rushed to Indira Gandhi Government Medical College and Hospital after her suicidal attempt. However, doctors declared her dead. Kalamna police registered a case of accidental death and started their investigations.
During the investigations, it came to fore that Savitri was much stressed with routine tiff arising out of dowry harrasment. Fed up of this, she took the extreme step. Savitri was married to Jagat Lodhi. Soon after her marriage, Jagat, his father Chaituram Lodhi, mother Indirabai Lodhi started harassing the girl for money. Few days ago, they asked her to ask for Rs 20,000 from her father for which she refused. Savitri was torture, both mentally and physically, which resulted in her stressed mental situation. On June 15, she decided to end her miseries and committed suicide.
Kalamna police have arrested her husband Jagat Lodhi and booked her in-laws after registering an offence under Sections 306, 498 (a), and 34 of the IPC.
