Rigorous study for 8 to 10 hours daily has yielded good results, said Rupanshu Ganvir, the city lad who has stood first in Nagpur Division and 3rd in Maharashtra in JEE Mains Examinations, the results of which was declared on Saturday. He is a student of Shivaji Science College, Nagpur and ICAD Academy. Ganvir has topped the city results with the score of 328 out of 360. When, Nagpur Today met him, he appeared in full control and laced with utmost confidence to clear the next level of IIT Advanced (the final entry gate for admission to IIT). Ameya Prabhune of Shivaji Science secured the second place by scoring 316 out of 360. Aayush Gupta of Resonance stands in the third place with 315 marks.

The JEE Main paper-based exam was conducted on April 6 and was attempted by over 11 lakh candidates. The online examinations were held between April 9 and April 19.

In Nagpur Division, the examination was conducted on 68 centers and 33,315 students appeared at 35 centers for first paper and 2,598 students appeared in second Paper. Total 17632 students appeared in Nagpur.

In Chandrapur, 4528 students appeared at 8 centers, in Wardha 2632 students appeared at 5 centers, Bhandara 7 centers registered 3875 students, while Gadchiroli had 1473 students on three centers. In Gondia at 10 centers 3495 students appeared.

150 Students of Dr. Ambedkar College, Deekshabhoomi, Nagpur have qualified for JEE Advance.

Only those candidates securing the top 1.5 lakh ranks get eligible to apply for the JEE Advanced 2014 exam for admission to the IITs and ISM Dhanbad.

The candidates will be provided with only 5 days to apply for JEE (Advanced) as the registrations will end on May 9. The exam is scheduled to be held on May 25. The final result will be declared on June 19.

In a candid chat with Nagpur Today, Ganvir shared his line of preparation for JEE Mains and future course of action for JEE Advanced. The Excerpts…

Nagpur Today: What were your expectations of score for JEE mains? You scored 328?
Ganvir: I was expecting to score around 300 to 320.
Nagpur Today: What’s your strategy for preparation of JEE Advance?
Ganvir: I continue to focus on revising the chapters and solving problems on a regular basis.
Nagpur Today: Is this your first attempt?
Ganvir: Yes, First attempt.
Nagpur Today: How many hours do you study on daily basis? How did you divide it subject-wise?
Ganvir: 8 to 10 hours daily, I divide it into 3 subjects.
Nagpur Today: How much are you expecting to score in the HSSC exams?
Ganvir: I have not decided yet. I am not sure.
Nagpur Today: Which IIT do you intend to join?
Ganvir: IIT- Powai, I want to do Computer Engineering.
Nagpur Today: Who would do you like to give the credit of your success?
Ganvir: I would like to give all the credit to my parents, family, teachers and mentors. I have improved a lot since I have joined ICAD. I would specially like to mention Kayade sir and all the teachers and the staff of ICAD.
Nagpur Today: Tell us about your family background?
Ganvir: My father is an Engineer in MSEB. My mother is a housewife. My elder sister is studying electrical engineering from IIT, Hyderabad.

Overall 132+ ICAD students qualified JEE(Main) with more than 24 students crossed 200 mark of JEE (Main).
